Well, I finally made it to the mecca of Michigan brewing in my opinion. I had a really good time there with a couple of other beer loving friends. Bar is toward the back and is a little small. A chalk board displays all the beers on tap (about 15 that day). Lots of small tables make up the majority of the space. Exposed ceilings, hardwood floors, comfy lighting makeup the atmosphere. On one side you could see the mash tuns, on another, a packaging room. I think they had a pool table and I know they have a dart board (nice traditional one). No food here as I understand, but you can order delivery. We got brassworks pizza (ask for a menu). Great beer at a great bar. Does not get any fresher for Michigan's best craft brews!

A big brick building with just a founders door on it, if you do not know the area you could miss it. You walk in to an interesting place, two large glass windows let you see the entire operation. They have darts, a pool, table, and a large warehouse feel. The beers are amazing, get a sampler if you haven't had them all. All very distinct and different, yet each one a masterpiece. We didn't make it in time for their lunch, they did alert us to ordering out with delivery from any of the restaurants in the area. Good service with friendly people, and great beer. You could purchase singles, 4-packs, 6-packs, and different size cases. I will return to Founders any time I am in the area, a must visit for any beer fan!

KBS release day.

I've been to Founders before, and this time was just as enjoyable. A decent crowd had filled the place, but we quickly ordered some sandwiches and beers and sat down to enjoy the day. KBS, nitro KBS, oak aged Red's Rye, Canadian Breakfast Stout, Backwoods Bastard, all on tap. The sandwich arrived, hot and spicy (Devil Dancer), just right for a semi-hangover. KBS is one of the very few stouts that are best enjoyed fresh, and we did. Three beers later, and it was time to buy a case. What? None left? We are a couple of lazy assholes. At least the fun environment and considerate waitstaff attended to our every need. Only at Founders could you be this content and disappointed at the same time. I love it.

Score edited for extra awesomeness.

I find myself in the Grand Rapids area a couple of times a year and always try to get to Founders whenever I can. I was there a few weeks ago and had a great experience, as always. It was a little more difficult trying to navigate around and find parking since they are in the midst of a large expansion project, but that's my only complaint. The service was outstanding, even though it was very crowded. The food was great. Be sure to get a pitcher of water if you order the Devil Dancer sandwich. Boy, was that thing hot! The beer selection is incredible. I wish I had a place like this right in back yard! They didn't have anything available for take out that I can't get at my local liquor store, so I didn't bring anything home, but they did have several brewery-only releases on tap that I was able to sample. Highly recommended for a visit if you're in the area.

Visited on a cold winter weekend in February 2013.

The atmosphere is terrific, with a long, winding wood-trimmed bar that feels classy all the way. Informative chalk boards clearly give you all you need to know about their current beer selection. The only negative I could say about the building is that there just isn't enough seating, especially for a brewery like Founders, who has consistently gained in popularity since their inception over 15 years ago.

We visited both on a Friday evening and a Saturday lunch time, both of which were times that saw the place insanely packed to the gills with people looking to enjoy their tasty beer and sandwiches. With that being said, the service is a tad on the lackluster side, as they don't have a designated host/hostess to take names and give wait times/direct people to where they need to go. They get unbelievably busy - which I can imagine happens on almost a daily basis - so I think they should reconsider the whole "every person for themselves" method for seating.

The selection of beers is very good, not surprising considering this is straight from the source. I was a little disappointed to see that I just missed out on enjoying some of their Imperial Stout. I would've thought they would have plenty to re-tap, but I was wrong.

The sandwiches are very, very good here. I have to admit that I was a bit surprised at just how much focus they put on quality food, but they certainly do. I had the Curmudgeon and would highly recommend it.

Every visit reminds me of why Founders is among my top favorite breweries. The beer is consistently delicious, from one style to the next. Fourteen taps cover a range of styles, with tap-only and experimental rotations being common (meaning every visit will allow one to find something new). The previously wide-open and inviting tap room has been dramatically upgraded with a beautiful porch area/beer garden. Our last visit found us having lunch, and all four adults were delighted with the food (salads and sandwiches) - the sandwiches are among the best we've ever had or seen. Service has been prompt and accurate on every visit. Growler fills are reasonable, especially for the high quality beer that Founders is known for. Don't miss this spot on a trip through Grand Rapids.

Been here several times and plan to continue going back; Founders is in my opinion the best brewery in Michigan and one of my favorite breweries of all time (along with Russian River and Lagunitas).
Not only is the atmosphere awesome and the selection phenomenal, but the beer is also great and the food is pretty solid. Last time I went in I drank KBS and a few samplers (the oatmeal stout and honey wheat among others) and they were all fantastic. The service was good but not great, I ordered the Italian style sandwich and it was very good.l

I love Founders and can't wait to go back.

Atmosphere isn't as good at night.
