Hmm, was at JH before the big beer and cheese social at Todd's...ordered this up after a sample. Was told by the berkeep it was a Belgian pale ale...although why call it a trippel, eh? Anyway, not that exciting a brew. Cloudy goldenrod in a 10.5 oz glass, the frothy white head dissipated quickly. Aroma was spicey (coriander?) and faint bubblegum. Taste started with bubblegum, and ended with bubblegum. It was easy to drink, but frankly, it came off as a wit to me.

On tap in Cambridge from a tulip glass. It poured a hazy gold color with no head. The nose has mild fruit with hints of figs and dates no hops. The taste is sweet candy malt with more hints of figs. Light lace on the glass. Light mouth feel. This beer is just average. Nothing too exciting. No freshness, or malt character that could put it over the top. Not bas, just not great.

Went back to school with this one on 11/11/2004. 10-oz. goblet pour at the source.
Barkeep said it was a tripel, while one of the brewers explained that he wasnt sure about the abv, but that it hovers somewhere in the high sevens. Was one of the JH offering at the recent Belgian Beer Fest. Milky sheen of initial head that ends up tilting to one side, with scant isthmuses snaking to the center. Chalky, light golden hue with just a boat-load of haze. Orange peel and lemon juice are predominant notes on the nose, followed by a fruit punch burst nearing the end. Light coriander, candy cane (green variety), some jumpy yet delightfully subtle pine notes with an undercurrent of hop brisket as well. This offering is more complex than the Bleu, another recent Belgian, and infinitely more consumable.
