Enjoyed at The Tavern in Framingham at the Beer for Boston charity. Poured into a Jack's Abby pint glass.
A - Poured a nice hazy light brown hue with a two finger khaki head that fades to leave light lacing and a thin cloud.
S - Aromas of candy malt, banana, light roast. Nice.
T - Taste is nice banana, sweeter malts nice yeasts...very solid beer with a light chocolate aftertaste.
M - Mouthfeel is solid for a dunkle. Super drinkable.
O - Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this beer . A solid dunkle offering.

Reviewed on 7/31/08. On tap at John Harvards. Pours a dark brown/amber with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, flowery hops. Flavor is quite sweet, with roasted malt. Smooth-bodied and easily drinkable. One of the better JH beers I've had.

Poured a deep, dark, translucent brown (almost black) color with a nice tan head atop it. Aroma was sweet like caramel, with a slight chocolate bitterness.
There is a distinct flavor of unsweetened chocolate throughout the flavor of this beer, along with dry wheat and hints of molasses. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side though, with the carbonation getting a bit in the way. Still this is a great dark beer from JH.

Poured a deep deep amber hue with a half finger tan foamy head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a spicy wheat malt with a touch of caramel.
The taste consisted of a very spicy dark wheat, similar to whole grain wheat bread. Some minor caramel sweetness detected a well.
The mouthfeel was of average fullness with a dry finish.
Overall a very good dunkel. A little rough around the edges, but very tasty nonetheless.
