I just got back from a trip to Ebenezer's with a group of friends. I can firmly state that this place lived up to even my highest expectations. Chris, the owner, is probably the coolest guy I have ever met. He is so generous and knowledgeable. He took us on a personal tour of the cellar, which contained so many rare & exotic beers that I had to take out my camera and take pictures of some of them.
The selection is loaded with great beers. The beer menu has 6 pages, if I remember correctly. Tons of sour ales, barley wines, and imperial stouts. The ONLY negative is that they only had a few IPA's/DIPA's. But, I probably wouldn't order them anyways because there are so many hard to find Belgians on the menu. I had a Cantillon Vigneronne and De Struise Black Albert, both on tap. I also got a bottle of Pannepot.
I can't believe a world-class beer bar like Ebenezer's is located in Lovell, ME. Chris explained to us that having it there is good for Maine and for the local area. It was interesting to look out in the parking lot and see more snow mobiles than cars.
The food (we ordered a garden salad, chicken fingers, french fries, chowder, and chili) was really good. The french fries and chicken fingers were perfectly fried. All of the food complimented the beers that we were drinking.
I am so happy that I made the trip up there and will definitely be going back soon. It's truly worth the trip from any distance.
