Ebenezer's is near Kezar Lake, just off of Rt. 5, about a 35 minute drive from North Conway.
The pub is adjacent to a golf course, with some screened in porch-like areas and a kozy smallish bar area.
Right off the bat, you're taken back that you have stepped into a belgian oasis in where is pretty much, the middle of nowhere.
Chris, the owner, (BA Delerium), has some great credentials, with stints at both the Toronado and Lucky Baldwins.
What we have to gain from this is his connections to great belgian bottles and draught, as well as his experience on how to properly serve them.
A copper clad bar fronts the 14 taps, one beer engine, and a cooler chock full of goodies.
Lots of plackards on the walls, a dead Jeraboom in the window, plenty of authentic glassware hanging atop the bar.
Blues in the background kept things lively, and time passes fast here, especially on a cold, rainy day.

Bier De Buckeneer
Cherish Raspberry lambic
Scotch de Silly
Every beer we tried were served in the appropriate glassware including the Kwak (with stand) and the Buckanier boot.
The bottle list is impressive too, with lots of vintage stuff and beers I have never seen in Maine- including:
Multiple years of Bigfoot,Westy 12, '98 Vapeur Cachonne, De Dolles.
For food we shared a sampler platter and onion rings, all were crispy, hot, and tasty. The rest of the menu looked appetizing as well.
Service was quick and friendly, and we were able to meet Chris and catch up on the background on him and Ebenezer's.
Great spot, great beers, and well worth the trip.
Ebenezer's is now open on Fridays and Saturdays only, 4-close.
Recently attended a vintage tasting/ dinner at Ebenezer's and we were able to enjoy first class hospitality and food.
The following is the post of a recap from that night:
A sold out crowd convened upon the beer oasis known as Ebenezer's yesterday, on the outskirts of a Maine hamlet called Lovell.
The drooling mix of locals and long-aways descended upon the sun-drenched hideaway as the hour passed four.
Many were giddy (as myself), and some seemed just anxious, not knowing what exactly was afoot..
First up.... A welcome beer, take your pick from 14 draught belgians. My wife and I settled in with a lemonade and a Bier de Buccaneer.
Chris Lively welcome everyone with a pairing of 2006 Vapeur Cochonne vs. the 1996 version, both from 750ml bottles.
An extreme example of how ten years in a bottle can change a beer.
Hot, crisp, frites accompanied the Vapeurs, with homemade mayonnaise for dipping.
Next up, 750's of 1995 Vapeur Saison de Pipaix. Not too shabby..
Mixing it up a bit, Chris and Jen brought out some 2001 Aventinus Dopplebock, one of 250 cases reserved from that year..Rock on..
A bed of mixed greens with dried cranberries and carmelized onions played off the Aventinus well, dressed with 1999 Oudbitje.
Stepping it up a notch, 2004 JW Lees Harvest (Calvados) was served up with great care, followed by a last minute addition to the tasting... 2002 Gales Jubilee ale.. Wowza. Hard to sip with a permanent grin!
The evening continued with entrees being served and the crowd really warming up at this point.
The 1999 A. Le Coqs paired well with my herb-crusted roast duck with root vegetables.
Next up, a magnum of 2006 of Chimay grand reserve, not old, but from the first batch to arrive this year.
Back to the dark ones again, 1997 Carnegie Porter was complex and vineous.
Flakey, juicy, blueberry pie was to accompany a Jeraboam of 2002 Chimay grand reserve, followed by... Say hello to my little friend, a methesleboam of St. Fullien blonde, personally retrieved that same day by one dedicated father in law. It was extremely fresh, and no date was found on the bottle or cork. 9 liters of heaven.
After the four courses drew to a close, Chris started up the vertical tasting of JW Lees Harvest ale, ranging from 2005 to 1998 (I think.. the notes are real iffy at this point).
The final crescendo of the evening was the lottery portion of the tasting. Different beers were split up to different tables, with some of the lotto beers being: 1999 magnum of Leifmans Goudenband,
1995 Samiclaus, a sixer of vertical bigoot, ranging back to 1997.
An incredible evening and huge beer karma goes out to Chris, Jen, his staff, the distributor he works with, and certainly B. United.
Chris now has in the vicinity of 36 taps flowing and the selection is mind-blowing.
They also continue beer events of which are of the highest order.
Ebenezer's continues to bring it to a "whole nutha level".

Rode into town in a pouring rainstorm to try this place for the first time.
This place is a bit off the beaten path, but still close enough to North Conway to get your ass up there. Ebenezer's is on a side road off of route 5 right next to a golf course. Coming north on 5 there will be a sign noting where to turn, and then its only 3/10ths of a mile.
The place doesn't look like much from the outside, kind of a bar inside a barn kinda thing. Inside there are 3 seating areas: a patio as you first walk in, seating inside, and a bar tucked off in the right corner. I sat at the bar and studied the tap handles for a bit, there were between 20-30 and not a BMC to be seen. Off to the right side of the bar is a cooler with LOTS of bottles.
There were 2 menus on the bar in front of me a food menu and a beer menu. The beer menu was larger I think. The beer menu is full of rare and vintage brews from all over the world. The food menu had your standard pub fare and also "real" food.
I had a Chimay burger that was great and a couple of beers that were as well.
I can't say enough good things about this place, the food, the beer, the service, everything was awesome. I hope to return soon and sample some more from this fine establishment.

Finally made it to this beer geek mecca. Such a remote area for such a gem of an establishment. Luckily was on a ski trip about 45 minutes away. Looks unassuming from the outside, but the inside is friendly and warmly decorated with a smallish bar/taproom area. We bellied up to the bar directly in front of the bottle fridge to behold all that was available.
Selection was amazing, good mix of domestic and imports and we were able to sample many interesting selections while enjoying a great meal. The server Mike was very knowledgeable and helpful and attentive.
The only criticism is that the selection on the web site is a sample, and not exactly what is available at any point in time, and there was no bottle list at the bar (apparently being updated?), so it was not easy to browse all that was available. Also there was no Black Albert available, which was a disappointment. Luckily I had had it before, but imagine how disappointing that could be for someone who came very far just seeking out that beer. I would think that there could be a plan to better manage the inventory on such a rare beer that people seek out, but admittedly I don't know all the details of production, distribution, access to ingredients, etc. that may influence something like that.
Overall a great experience with great people and great beer and great food, a must-see/must-do for any craft beer fan.

I just got back from my first pilgrimage of many to Ebenezer's. I spent about 5 hours here this past Friday night and stayed a few miles away at the Olde Saco Inn which was fantastic btw.
The atmosphere here was excellent. A nice mixture of locals, beer geeks, and tourist beer geeks like me. I got the feeling that while everybody knew they were in a great place, only some knew how great. It seemed that the more local you were, the more likely you were to not know how great. The location of this place itself combines with everything else to make it a full fledged mecca.
I walked up towards the screen porch and see a small blackboard that says something about this place being "Beer Heaven" and I open the door to the farmhouse screen porch. As I enter I see owner Chris Lively sitting with friends and wearing that Cheshire Cat smile he is known to adorn. He immediately takes notice of my Russian River Damnation button down workshirt and greets me by saying
"Hey man, great shirt. We just got up from a tour of the basement but we will be going back down again soon and you should join us to share some beers later!"
I'm not a presumptuous person so while I was humbly hopeful to see the famous basement, I had in no way felt entitled to or expecting of a tour. But here is this nice person offering the opportunity to me straight out of the starting gate....from the moment we say hello. What an introduction to a fantastic night to follow!
The outside screen porch probably had about 10 tables while I also saw 2 outdoor tables. Walking inside the establishment, you find about 6 tables inside with a great view of a golf course in addition to a bar area with 12 stools and 2 tables. It seemed as if there might have been a second floor area but if so I couldn't tell you about it.
Our waitress, while not beer knowledgeable and very forgetful, was very polite and pleasant. The food menu was excellent. The sirloin tips from a local farm were above average. The brie wonton appetizer served with honey, and a mixture of wild maine blueberries plus cheese was ridiculously good.
The beer menu was second to none. 30+ tap lines and hundreds of great bottles. Some items on the menu simply didn't exist on any other beer list I've seen in my entire life. Not at Kulminator, not at De Heeren Van Leiderkercke, nowhere else. The manager Chris was knowledgeable, approachable, funny, and accommodating.
I had the pleasure of meeting jleblanc and sharing a basement tour as well as some FWII with him while visiting.
What an experience...

I managed to convince my wife that driving 5 1/2 hours north to a small town in the woods of Maine to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary at a Belgian beer bar last weekend was a great idea. Based upon what I'd read about Ebenezer's, it was a sure bet. We were not to be dissapointed. I'll leave the physical layout for others who've already covered that. As we walked in through the outdoor seating area, the first thing we noticed was the Pannepot sign that was obviously being hand painted. Absolutely beautiful. Upon entering the bar which was half full, there were two older bikers wearing their colors which suprised the both of us. They left shortly after arriving and we took their seats. Hanna was our waitress. she was hands-down the best server I can remember in any restaurant. Attractive, pleasant with a good sense of humor, and extremely well versed in everything served at Ebenezer's. She treated us like we were the only customers there that evening. She recommened a sampler, so we picked five Belgians to start the evening, all of course on tap: Echt Kreikenbier; Black Albert; Avec les Bon Veux; Cantillon Rose Grambinus and our mutual favorite, Oude Beersel Framboise. The Framboise had an almost meady constistency to it, slightly sweet but not cloying. A spectacular brew. Black Albert, suprisingly enough, came in second. The evening ended about five hours later, but not before we enjoyed additional brews such as Ichtegem Grand Cru, an Allagash and De Preof blend served by Chris himself who also stopped by to say hello. What a great guy. Het Kappitel Abt was buttery and delish and enjoyed by both of us. Brasserie De Blaugies La Moneuse Special Winter Ale (750ML bottle). Before I forget, Hanna went out of her way to question us about flavors we sought, then brought us three bottles and described each before we selected the Special Winter Ale. After Chris stopped by (we now had four glasses on the table for the two of us), a short while later, the De Streusse brewers also stopped by and popped open a bottle of what else? Pannepot Reserva, 2005. What a thrill to meet the guys behind the beer. As I think about it, we finished with a saison from The Breury served by Chris. The food was also excellent. We enjoyed the blueberry glazed shrimp on the barbie along with some artichoke dip and chips. My wife had steak tips that were sweet and delicious. I loved the seafood plate over pasta which was chock full of lobster, shrimp, scallops and mussels. Hanna clandestinely brought the doggie bag to our table just prior to leaving (a bottle of Black Albert within). We stayed at the Old Saco Inn whic was about 3 miles down the road, which we also recommend. A great time, a great restaurant and an evening to remember because of Hanna, Chris and the boys from Desteuesse.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get to Ebenezer's. While staying in Maine with some friends we decided to visit the pub on a cloudy Saturday afternoon. None of us realized reservations are accepted and almost the entire restaurant was reserved tables. Luckily we got 2 separate tables in the back. The restaurant itself isn't anything special. There's lots of Belgian beer paraphernalia on the wall and the glass tap handles were pretty cool. Other than that, it's a typical restaurant setting. I think I was expecting something a little more 'coffee shop' like. A place where you can go and hang out with your friends over some beers.
The service was very slow when we arrived. It was almost a half hour before the waitress came by to take our drink/food order. At the time a lot of tables were clearing out (early dinner crowd) and the late eaters have not arrived yet. So it wasn't really that busy. Overall though, our server was fine once we got into her rotation.
Everything was top notch. We wanted to save room for beer so we only ordered some appetizers. The Frites and quesadilla's were awesome and the Brie ragoons (If I remember correctly) were fantastic. I've had their burgers at Lion's Pride, and must say they are fantastic. Every beer on the menu is world class and most not something you'll typically find at a bar. All six of us ordered something different and passed it around so everyone could enjoy a sip.
The beer prices are on the high side ($8-14 for a draft glass of beer), but the food prices seemed reasonable.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and beer at Ebenezer's and will definitely return again. However, the next time I'm going to be sure to make a reservation.

Finally made it out there- booked a camp site nearby, so everything finally fell into place for me to cross this place off my list(and to come back again and again!)
The beer selection was outstanding. I prefer to see all the breweries and pour sizes listed, but the descriptions and quality made up for the fact that not all beers listed the maker and no pour sizes were provided. To other bar owners- if you are gonna be vague about what and how much of it you're serving, you better have a tap list comparable to these guys!
We sat at a table overlooking the golf course, and than moved to the bar, to get a real feel of the place after were done with our meal. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered a turkey reuben- both were outstanding and not ordinary. The waitress did not automatically offer home-made mayo for the frites, but was happy to bring it over once we asked(good thing we remembered to ask- it was goood).
Once we ventured over to the bar, which was tended by the owner and his wife, we got more good recommendations from them and got the world famous tour of the cellar. Overall a great experience.

Came in here on Friday 8-30 for the 6th annual Belgian Beer Fest with a few friends. I've wanted to come here for a long time and I'm glad I was able to make it.
First off, I was at the fest and that's the menu I was looking at so I don't know if the prices were normal or higher than normal but this was hands down the most expensive bar I've ever been to. Most of the pours were around $10, some as high as $14. However, the pours were all of an appropriate size and the beers were all amazing. I think that $12 for a glass of beer is expensive, but I can't get Cantillon or Drie Fontenin on tap anywhere else, so it's hard to compare.
I had a Black Albert Batch 0, Cantillon Vigeronne, Cantillon Cuvee des Champions, and I split a bottle of Victor Francenstein. I was blown away by every beer, Chris seemed really nice and our Waitress seemed pretty knowledgeable as well.
This place is very much worth seeking out (I'd say stop if you were close but it's in the middle of nowhere!), just make sure you've got some money. I didn't eat while I was there but the food looked fantastic. Hopefully next time I'm in Maine I'll be able to stop back!
