Visited Bierhandel Willems on 4/7/2013 with Thirstybird. Bierhandel Willem is a bottleshop in the true sense of the word. They don't only sell beer, but other bottled beverages (e.g. soda, water, liquors, etc.) and you can also exchange your crate of empties when you come in to pick up your next haul.

The place itself is not much to look at - minimal parking, cement floor, somewhat dimly lit; but appearances aren't everything. There are several aisles dedicated to beer, with a nice selection of Cantillon, Drie Fonteinen, De Cam, Fantome, De Struise, Tilquin, Hansenns, Horals Oude Gueuze, Straffe beers - pretty much if it is made in Belgium, you can get it at Bierhandel Willems. That said, don't expect to find some of the more esoteric belgians (Westy, harder to find De Struise beers, Fou Founne, etc); however, they did have 3 of the Armand '4 Oude Gueuze beers. Overall, one of the better beer shops in Belgium with very fair prices (Dranken Geers near Gent being the other). Prices were extremely reasonable in my opinion - I purchased a Horal's Oude Gueuze Mega Blend, both barrel-aged Tsjeeses, Fantome Magic Ghost and a De Cam Oude Gueuze for around 30 Euro.

Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the Antwerp/Brussels area.

A truly exceptional beer store. Located not too horribly far from the highway, in a slightly residential area. It looks more like a convenience store, until you walk in... So many beers packed into such a small space. Selection here is incredible. 800+ beers, mainly singles, mainly Belgian but there is also a small "import" corner where you can get a variety of Dutch craft beers (het Uiltje) as well as some interesting British and American stuff. There is also a specific Lambic/Geuze section with Cantillon, 3F, etc.... All in all, there are very few whales to be found here (de Struise and Cantillon are around, but the "normal" stuff), just a ton of interesting Belgian beers from not only the classic breweries, but also alot of small breweries that you have likely never heard of. I make it a habit when I am in the area to stop by and try out a few new things. The downside to Willems is that the prices can sometimes be a little steep on the more hard to find stuff, and I have noticed at times that the occasional IPA might have lingered a little too long on the shelf. But the staff is super friendly and the selection itself is hard to beat.
