Wow until reading BA reviews, I had no idea Sandy's had so much beer. It's all the way in the back. They have cases of the Narragansett Del's and you can buy a single for $2.50 ish in the small red cooler, if you just want to taste it.- it's on the sweet side.
It is a small store, and it's hard for more than one or two people to be in the beer section at a time. Give yourself lots of time to dig around.
Looks like the new owner bought it in 2011, so the old reviews should be deleted or at least disregarded.

A few years back, Sandy's was known for being pretty empty and for a lackluster selection.

My, how times have changed. It's crammed to the gills with great beers at great prices. (And when I say crammed, I mean CRAMMED). On top of having a really good selection, Sandy's takes care of their regulars, so it's a good spot to get known at.

Best store in Rhode Island hands down!!
Superior collection of hard to find craft ales. The staff was extremely helpful with my request.. Sandy's is definitely your go to on Aquidneck Island. Great knowledge and service on wines and spirits as we'll..

I'm a newbie to craft beers. I live in the neighborhood and drop in often to talk to Mike, the owner. He always has time and the interest to answer my questions and help me learn about craft beers and the history behind each of them. The store is smaller than many but the selection is unbelievably broad. I have tried many different beers and am learning what I like. Mike will always find something new for me to try. I have tried some beers that I really didn't like but Mike was able to steer me to slightly different ones that I have found I do like. I'm sure I've asked or said things that really show how new I am to craft beers but never once felt like I said something stupid.

I went to Sandy''s recently with a budget for a gift for a friends birthday. I hoped to walk out with a couple of nice beers but walked out with an arm full. Terrific value for the money! I look forward to many visits in the future and credit Mike for keeping me interested in, and enjoying a "new world". Stop by. I think you'll agree its worth the time.

This is a great shop! They fit a lot of craft beer into such a small space. They are already in sync with their customers but also listen to requests for other stock they do not carry. Even if I do not intend to buy anything I love stopping by regularly.

Space is tight so I would not recommend navigating the row of coolers with a large group! Very good bomber selections of Pretty Things, Clown Shoes and other regional breweries in the coolers and on the shelves across the aisle.

One night before they closed I was offered a sample of Dubhe as they just got a fresh shipment and Uinta was brewery of the month. Great people and fantastic selection.

The only negative is sometimes they overpurchase given the small size so you have to dig through a few boxes to find the special releases. Overall great to have this shop on the island.

Oh, and the prices are excellent considering location. Green Flash 4-packs @ $9.99 and BCS 4-packs @ $19.99 for example.

My Fiance's parents live in Middletown, and as such we have gone down there at least once a month since we began dating. I knew that RI had a fair amount of craft beers being distributed within its small borders, however I was only able to find evidence of that at restaurants such as Yesterday's. Then one afternoon I was sent on a booze run and directed to Sandys. I can't describe my surprise to find the selection that they had. It doesn't look like a whole lot from the outside, but it has an incredible selection in the coolers, and all at reasonable prices. I have since been in every weekend that we are down there and am constantly finding new brews to try. The ownership is incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they have on their shelves. Highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

I live in Warwick but was working in Middletown so i decided to look up craft beer stores in the area. BA had some good reviews about this place so I decided to check it out. In RI its hard enough to find good beers so when i started looking at the selection I was pleasantly surprised. I found some BCS which I grabbed to add to my cellar collection. To my astonishment he also had Founders Devil Dancer, a beer I thought I would never be able to try. At the checkout counter I met Mike, the owner. A hell of a nice guy and very beer knowledgable. He let me ramble on about beer and then informed me that he just got some Lunch IPA by Main Beer Company. I've yet to find it anywhere else so I added that to my purchase. I will definitely spend the money to cross the bridge to come here more often!

Probably the best selection of craft beers on Aquidneck Island. Six Point, Founder's, Goose Island, Lagunitas, Pretty Things, to name a few. Great selection of bombers. Keeps some great Belgians in stock as well as Trappistes. Mike knows his craft beer and can make some great recommendations for you. Also if you're looking for something he doesn't have, he'll see what he can do to get it. New stuff always coming in. Ask about the Brewery of the Month Special. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter to be kept in the loop on all the specials they have going on.

I don't usually spend much time reviewing the places I go because it seems like so many have adequately reviewed these establishments. I have to make an exception for Sandy's.

In town for business, I was hoping for an acceptable bottle ship to find a few new things. This place blew my expectations to shreds. On Friday's they have free tastings of local products! The selection is fantastic. Plenty of the usual suspects plus lots of local products. The owner is accessible, knowledgeable and friendly. I wish we had one of these at home!

WOW, this store was a surprise. The new owner Mike is very friendly and seems to be very passionate about craft beer. He has increased the selection big time. It's a small store but he is making good use of the limited cooler space. One thing I like is he has his craft beer cold, not sitting on a shelf warm. I can buy and enjoy as soon as I get home. Sandy's is worth a stop in. This is one my new favorites to visit. Sandy's also has a good selection of 22oz craft from Lagunitas, Firestone, a few different ciders and Berkshire along with a good selection of 4 packs from Greeen Flash Corsendonk among others.

Sandy's has the best selection in Middletown. They seem to keep growing the choice of craft brews every week. Some of the great crafts they carry are Sixpoint, Lagunitas, Firestone (Picked up a six pack of Union Jack this weekend, which I never seen in the state) among many others. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. They gave me a few pint glasses at check out. If your on Aquidneck Island, this is the beer store to go to. Only fault is how there beer cooler is setup. Limited space so it's like a hallway. Hard to step back and take in everything they got. As for the prices, they seem to be the cheapest on the island as for for the craft beers I compared.

Two weeks ago, I was traveling through Middletown, RI and I needed to hit a store with a beer selection, not just a domestic macro collection of crap. My friends had mentioned that Sandy's Liquors had stepped it up this summer with an increasing selection of Belgium, German, Russian, and local brews.

I walked out spending less than $45.00 for some EKU 28, Slaapmutske Triple Nightcap, Hoptimus Prime, and Baltika #7 & #9. The staff was helpful. I asked if they were able to get some St Feuillien Biere de l'Amitie. I heard that some was coming to the state but I was not sure where. They found some for me!

The store has made a significant change to it's selection. I would refer them to my friends. If they do not have it they said they would try to get it. That's worth another visit from me.

Okay, so I went to Sandy's with rather low expectations and left quite pleased. For what it is - a local neighborhood store - the selection of crafts was great. Six Point, Great Divide, Breckinridge, Victory and Berkshire to name a few. I was asked if I needed help and they tossed in a pint glass at checkout - - and carried my order to the car. Great Service, good selection and local folks trying to make it work supporting the craft beer scene. If you find yourself in the area I'd give it a whirl.

Ok, I have driven by this store a couple of times when in RI on business and have been tempted to stop due to the DFH sign on the front of the store. I thought that if they had DFH they must have some other beers worth checking out. They do,or maybe more to the point, they did at one point maybe.
It is already tourist season in the Newport area so most stores are stocked and ready to go(or you would think). This store is empty. How empty? Two racks for beer in the back, with maybe ten bottles on each. All really good beer, great divide, chimay, some random belgians. Quality beers, but no more than one bottle of each. Coolers in the back, four doors. All pretty much empty. 4 bottles of a lambic in one cooler, maybe a six pack. Again, all really good beers, but picture a liquor store after a war has broken out and we have resorted to Mad Max style survival.
That's how empty this store is for beer.
I have more beer in my fridge, than they have in this store.
Not worth it.

Visited for the first time on 2/13/08. It's a small store and was very cluttered. There wasn't a lot of cooler space, but what little space they had was mostly empty. There wasn't much at all to choose from. Some Great Divide, De Ranke, and isolated micro-brew selections which seemed to be ones that had been there for a while and hadn't sold. Service was friendly, nothing bad to mention about it. Prices did not seem to be as reasonable as most places. Altogether, this is a place that I would really only go to out of desperation, if I were in the area and wanted to travel as little as possible.
