I picked up a 12 oz bottle of this on the advice of the very helpful beer aisle guy at Whole Foods in Portland, OR. He assured me this is the next big thing in the Portland beer scene. Poured at room temperature (which is a relative term, it being winter in Oregon) into a nonic pint glass
A - Pours light yellow like a lager or pale ale. White foam lingers a bit, but doesn't leave any lacing.
S - I'm getting Lager-style yeasts and honey. There is definitely an herbal quality, but I wouldn't have identified it as heather if I hadn't read it on the bottle.
T - Strong peppery clove-ness on the first sip. There are strong herbal and floral notes through the whole sip. No hop presence, which is probably to be expected in an ancient Scottish recipe.
M - Light and very smooth. Similar to lager, but in a good way.
D - I was expecting something really out there, like one of DFH's ancient brews, but this was a pleasant surprise. It is light, bubbly, and refreshing, but not overly sweet. I really like the herbiness, but wish the heather flavors were more prominent. This style would be great for an outdoor party on a warm day, and I enjoyed the history lesson behind the style.

A - Pale straw colour with a very clear clarity. Head is a solid inch and a half. A very clean looking beer. Littl sign of carbonation.
S - Leafy and floral aroma.
T - Off the bat, it is very spicy and acidic. Floral notes with some herbs. Hard to pinpoint, but it has a very sharp taste. I really enjoy the herbal punch of the taste.
M - Smooth consistency with a delicate carbonation. Finishes dry and quick.
O - Much better than the Grozet IMO. Still lacking some oompf, but the sharp taste at the start really sells it for me. Would drink again.
