I've seen this at many stores around the cities, and never gave a thought to trying it. I finally got around to looking up what it was and was pleased to see it was a style I haven't crossed off yet. So here goes.
Pours yellow orange into a pint glass (no idea what the proper glassware is for this one). Decent, off white head is produced on an average pour. Retention is lacking but it does leave some lacing.
The nose is floral and herbal, surprise surprise. I'm having a hard time identifying the heather, but other than the Summit 90/- I've never had a beer with heather in it before to compare it to. I just associate heather with the floral and herbal smell I'm getting. It's almost vegetal, like someone threw in flowers, grass, tree moss, and other weeds into a grinder and threw them in the beer. Truely unique.
Flavor is just like the nose, soft herbal and floral notes across the board. Unique yet approachable, simple yet incredibly complex.
Light to medium body that is soft and smooth. Very drinkable.
I did enjoy this brew. It's very unique and nice to step away from your regular IPA to try something like this. I didn't find it phenomenal, but I would gladly have it again.
