This and Penfield are the two best Wegmans in the Rochester area for beer, and I'm fairly sure Pittsford has the widest selection of them all. Aside from Beers of the World, Wegmans is the best place to go for beer in Rochester and is less expensive (though has a smaller selection) than BotW. There are belgians, east coast and west coast brews, german beers, irish, italian, english, mexican, and so on. It seems like the selection is getting better all the time. I always feel good about supporting Wegmans, they are the best grocery store period. Thanks Wegs for setting the trend that other grocery stores are now beginning to follow!

Wegmans has the best beer selection I've ever seen for a grocery store.
The food rating is so high because Wegmans is a killer grocery store- great selections. I don't want to move away from Wegmans' food options. There's also a small restaurant in this particular location with made to order food and beer on tap. About 5 taps at any given time, nothing crazy, but nice anyway. Boston Lager, Sam seasonal, Saranac seasonal, Next Door Ale, and Saranac rootbeer always on tap.
In the store itself, the beer selection is nice. Divided by US geographical area (local, East Coast, and West Coast) as well as by country/area (Germany, England, Belgium, Asia, etc). It's the best place to get typical craft selections due to prices- most reasonable in the area for craft beer. They have a good mix-a-six section for 9.99- always some interesting lower-ABV options there, although I did once find a trove of Breakfast Stout in the mix a six.
Not much service to speak of, most employees don't know jack about beer. Doesn't really matter, though.
Worth a stop for the beer and everything else. This Wegmans is a behemoth, the flagship one in the area. Great stuff all around.

Wegmans is my beer store. My local Wegmans is one of the smallest in the area but has a fantastic beer selection. It has all the major national brands, all the trappists, regional brands like Southern Tier, Great Lakes, Flying Bison and others. The sections are divided up by the country of origin. You can get anything from Weihenstephaner to Brooklyn Local 1. They also are very good with the larger bottles of beer like Liefmans and Leffe.
Craft beer displays are set up around the store next to appropriate food items. The section itself is quite large in my store, with a large walk-in cooler and 3 aisles of beer with a smaller side cooler.
They have a create a six pack section where you can choose 6 bottles to make trying great beer even easier. In my last run, I chose Dogfish Head Midas Touch, Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, Sierra Nevada Celebration, Otter Creek Black IPA, Redhook ESB and Leffe Blond. I never am disappointed with this place.

Huge grocery super market, in a huge big box store kinda area. You will be able to find ALL of your veggies, meat, fruit, general kitchen needa. The beer is way in the back right of the store as you enter. Multiple shelving units, a large walk in cooler and boxes of brew displayed around tghe area. The have a lot of beer....good variety of the expected national heavy hitters, regional and also bottle of local, lesser seen options. Typical imports also available.
Fine spot to stock up food and beer needs. I'll be back.

Wegman's is a chain grocery store in the northeast, mostly New York. Quite recently they significantly expanded their beer selection. I've been to several locations in the Rochester area and they all have several aisles of beer, separate by country. Lots of regional microbrews and a respectable selection of imports: Delirium, Unibroue, and St. Bernardus to name a few. Staff is usually friendly, but keep in mind that it's a grocery store, not a beer store. Most of them don't know the first thing about craft beers. Overall, the selection isn't impressive by beer store standards, but pretty impressive by supermarket standards.

Wegmans is the new Beers of the World of Rochester. They have recently upgraded their beer section from mainly macros to a large selection of beers from around the world and a decent selection of US craft breweries. DFH, Unibroue, Trappist Westmalle, Orval, Samuel Smith, Weihenstephaner, Franziskaner (sorry for spelling), Asahi, Stone, Great Lakes, Oskar Blues, they went from none of that (except for Unibroue) to all of this! I was very impressed. One of the best selections available for a grocery store.
Their prices tend to be a little bit cheaper than beers of the world but many sale prices at BOTW can fall below Wegmans' regular prices.
The only service complaint I have is that the cashiers usually scan the bottles like ordinary grocery items, they might tip them, roll them around until they find the bar code, and put them in a bag sideways or something. Then I have to wait like 2 days before drinking them. But other than that, Wegmans ftw!

i ended up on the east side of town to bring my wife to a study group at the barnes & noble next to the place, the big wegman's by my house has an immpressive selection for a grocery store so i thought i'd check this huge store out as well considering it's ranked high on the beerfly review list ; wow, remids me of a Whole Foods (which i love), i was quite impressed with all the foodstuffs in the store as walked around, lost, for about 20 minutes before i finally asked someone where the beer was, they happily guided me to the corner of the store where i should've known to look in the first place, i found a bit more than my reg. selections at my weggies inc. some growlers from 2 local breweries, the prices on their stuff was good as well, the majority was on sale today (except my saranac IIPA, naturally), i'll def. have to stop in next time i'm that way...

What more can you ask for in terms of beer at a grocery store! Near the produce there is a shelf that has bombers of southern tier and otter creek brews. Closer to the beer cooler you will usually find a rack with duvel or ommegang gift boxes(especially around the holidays).
The cooler rocks! It contains the goods of Brooklyn brewery, victory, ommegang, unibroue and much more! The prices are usually better than if you bought them at beers of the world. You aren't going to get any help in terms of service but do you really need it?

When I was living in the upper monroe ave neighborhood last year this was the place that I would goto for beer and food. They always have some canadian beer on sale and pleanty of micro and forign six packs to sample. They feature a fairly large walk in cooler plus two other small cooler shelfs where your bound to find something you havent had yet. Theres always micros from the New York region in the odd sizes like custom brewcrafters growlers. This is the king of all grocery stores and everyone in the north east knows wegmans and this is the best of all of them.
