After researching a few websites, I decided that Rozi's was a must stop on my Cleveland excursion. After I walked out of this place empty handed, I wondered how it got such high ratings. D'OH!...two locations...the other one is the high rated place...might as well review the Rocky River location anyway...

Located in a small strip mall with a Giant Eagle as the anchor tenant. The beer section is tucked in the back left corner. They have a center shelf full of six packs...mostly local and bigger craft names. They have a few bombers along in the corner, but nothing that wasn't available at the GE down the sidewalk. I would guess less than 40 different offerings total.

You could tell this is a wine and liquor store...and a damn fine one at that. I am sure the beer section will grow, but for now, I am pretty disappointed...hope the other (original, I assume) location blows my mind.

Second stop on my west Cleveland suburbs beer tour. 2 minute drive from Rocky River. Small store in a mini-mall with a very tiny beer selection. Still, it was worth a visit.

I had already dumped $300 plus on beer last week by the time I made it to Rozi’s so I wasn’t in the mood to purchase much but I still could have. They had several bombers of Dreadnaught for cheap, some South Hampton, a few assorted Belgians such as St. Bernie and Grotten, lots of local/regional stuff, and a few odd European commodities.

This place is not by itself a destination but in combination with the very nearby Rocky River brewery, it makes for a worthwhile drive from Cleveland. The staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. Better yet, the owners’ son is a BA so show the place your support. I walked away with two impressions: 1. If more people buy craft beer here, the selection will really improve, there seemed like a lot of room to grow, and 2. this is a good place to look for limited releases that have been sold out everywhere else for months.

Prices were good.

This place is not too far from Rocky River Brewing Company, so if you go there you might as well stop here. This place is a wine store first, then a liquor store, and last a beer store. I never asked for service here, but I'm sure they have someone that can help you with your beer purchase. The quality and the selection of the beer is kind of fickle. One time I went they had nothing good and another time I went they had alot of good choices. If you get there on a good day they might have some Rogue, Belgians, Germans, other American Micros, and more imports like Tusker and Baltika. One time they even had the Belzebuth, which I heard was pushed to the limit of the Ohio ABV law. The prices for these can be somewhat pricey, but what do you expect for such good beers. If you're in the neighborhood and got time to go, you might as well stop in and see if you came on a good day or a bad day.

Update on 3/29/2007. This Rozi's is located in the Giant Eagle plaza next too the pet store. The best part is that it's in walking distance of RRBC. The last time I went, their selection was a little better, but whatever beer you see, it's old because it's the beer they can't sell at the main Rozi's in Lakewood. If it has a date on it, make sure you look at it very closely. If by any chance the bottle doesn't have a date, who knows how old it is. If you're looking for a beer that's not brewed anymore, you might have a slim chance that it could be here. After going to RRBC for a fresh pint of beer, stop here to see what old beer they might have in stock. One more thing. If you go here, make sure you pick up your free copy of the Great Lakes Brewing News.
