Half liter bottle pours out nearly clear copper –gold with thin off white head. The aroma offers up sickly sweet sugary malts, a sweet mead like quality and a cheap maple syrup covered apple and pear slices like sensation. The taste isn’t as sweet like I was expecting. I get a sugary sweetness, a pleasing and trying to be dry yeastiness that cuts the sweetness with a slightly nutty like maltiness, and a strong alcoholic finish, which brings my overall rating of this brew down.

Pours a dark corn color with moderate carbonation and head that thins to a lace. Smells like a standard Euro lager that is slightly sweet and somewhat fruity. Tastes pretty much the same as it's smell except the alcohol is definitely more prominent. Goes down pretty smooth, but somewhat bitter. I don't really recommend this beer. For 9.5% it's pretty bland and the aftertaste is the same as a Bud.

Out of a bomber bottle all the way from Lithuania this beer (which I sampled at The Russian House in Washington D.C.) was a dark golden/nearly copper color with an off-white head (lighting?). The retention was so-so; the lacing scattered. The aroma was punchy, lots of booze and dry grains. It was also served to me in a pint glass which did little for the aroma. The flavors were very much like a spiked Lager beer; imagine a Corona spiked with vodka. I tasted dry grains, alcohol heat and little else beyond hints of wood. But otherwise it tasted just as it smelled. It wasn’t unpleasant, and certainly if one wanted to get F’ed up it would be efficient AND superior to most American malt liquors which sport similar percentages. However, I wouldn’t quickly recommend it, especially to beer-lovers who tend to be snobs (what happened to you people?)! But, doubtless, one can give it props for rarity! The mouthfeel was frothy, the body medium and the carbonation light.

Pours a somewhat hazy golden orange color, small white head forms. Smell is clean, mildly sweet, and alittle lager-like. In the taste, lemony twang of spent hops, sweet grains mimicking dirty, raw honey. Theee is an odd somewhat sour twang of hops, and super sweet malt. These factors hide the alcohol well, which is a much needed success. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, somewhat crisp. Overall, an interesting brew, Lithuanian Premium Malt Liquor? Hows that for a new beer style.

Maybe, one pint bottle or something? Poured into a pint glass. Not sure how long I've had this in the fridge, but probably a long time.

Pours clear yellow with almost no head. Smell is a spicy lager smell that, for some reason, made me think of fruit loops. Smells a little lemony. Taste is sweet, not terribly exciting, somewhat lemony, at first impression it's not as bad as I was expecting (but also definitely not very good). However, the aftertaste evens out into something rather bad. Gym socks and lemon tea, maybe.

Mouthfeel is flat, thick and sticky. Overall, I think I'm not finishing this beer.

Poured from a bottle into a Pilsener glass.

Look - somewhat dark golden in color, a little murky, with about a finger's worth of off-white colored foam that dissipates quickly.

Smell - very spicy smelling, as in herbs and spices. Very interesting smell. It smells like a type of Mexican candy I've had before.

Taste and Mouthfeel - very interesting taste too! It also tastes like the Mexican candy that I've had before. I don't particularly love it, but it's very interesting. Not much to be noticed at the beginning, but the middle has a dulling sensation at the back of the palate, and then the finish is a bit musky. Texture is pretty well and even balanced.

Overall - again, I don't love the taste, but maybe just because it's different, but because it's different is why I like it as a beer.

A: Slightly copper cloudy with virtually no head. Not what I expected for an extra stout.

S: Slightly boozey smell and a bit of fruitiness in there as well.

T: Malts and fruity tastes are everywhere.Slightly skunky taste.

M: Thich and rich a bit chewy with some clensing action on the bubbles.

D: Decent allthough not what I expected from the labelExtra Stout...And at 9 % could not do many of these. but the taste is not a bad one if I wanted to get pissed drunk could drink about 4 and would be very much on my way.

A 500 mL bottle. A portion went into the chili and the remainder into my glass.

A: The lager has a fortified color, looking more like a hefeweizen than a pale lager. A thin white head never amounted to much.

S: The nose is strong, full of alcohol. Sweetness, including apples and creamed corn, is equally strong. The sweetness gradually evolves into a tropical aroma, interesting do doubt.

T: Sickly sweet with cinnamon sweetness alongside candied apples. Plenty of booze to go around. Definitely in line with a Euro strong lager, so much so that I'd call it a hangover in a bottle.

M: The mouthfeel is sweet and fusel, boozy with lots of fruit. That's not the good kind of fruit though.

D: The lager has an alcoholic flavor, like mouthwash without the peppermint. On the upside, it's cheap and provides a near-instant buzz.

Appearance: Poured from a bottle into a beer mug. It has an amber red tint with a small white foamy head.

Smell: Slightly sweet with an alcohol smell. Doesn't smell like a great beer. Smell is not very appealing.

Taste: Strong fruity taste. I can taste apple and honey. Alcohol is strong and beer is not complex. I do not like the taste, it is hard to drink.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation that seems kind of syrupy. Seems smooth and easy.

Taste: I bought it because it was a Lithuanian beer, thought it would be interesting to try. It is unbalanced and seems too sweet for a beer. Not what I was expecting. It is kind of boring and not complex. Not very good and probably won't try again.

This beer makes sense if you want to get drunk on anything other than cheap wine that you can also drink out of a glass or a mug. It does not represent a good accompaniment to any food, other than, perhaps, a heavily salted dried fish.
It is cloyingly sweet and smells/tastes of burnt rubber. Goes down somewhat easy, though, for its alcohol content. The aftertaste it leaves in one's mouth is quite nasty, however - enough to make you nauseous.
The only quality of this beer that makes it worth trying once is that it captures the spirit of post-Soviet Eastern Europe of the 1990's quite well: rogue, rough, anything-goes, highly alcoholic with the smell of industrial decay (burning factory nearby?).

Umm, why does the label say this beer is "Extra Stout?" My guess is because people will think it is a stout... until a stream of clear yellow-gold comes flowing out. Average white head, some lacing. Non-descript chunks in the bottom. Hard-candy sugary nose with some banana, kind of medicinal. The taste is, well, bad. Sweet, to a sickening level. Hay/straw flavors, if they were dipped in sugar. Here is where the nasty, over-sweet grape candy flavor punches you. Its identical to the taste of a super-cheap purple jellybean. I hope this isn't the best Lithuania has to offer.

Pours a murky gold with huge chunks of off-putting sediment floating around. The head wisps away quickly. No lacing is left behind. Smells of honey and malts. Tastes malty and some alcohol in the background. The alcohol becomes hot and pervasive after a few drinks. It's cloying and a bit thin and weak. Can't do this one.

Found this a few months ago at Springhill Liquor. Looked interesting and foreign so I thought I would give it a try. Honestly, the biggest attraction for me was the $3 price tag and 9.5% ABV! A cheap drunk is a good drunk when your like me and on a budget. I bought it in conjunction with an Aiko.

Appearance: Pours a clear golden color with a white head that quickly dissipated. No real retention here.

Smell: Rich malty sweetness, very big sweetness.

Taste: Malty sweetness and...alcohol. That's about it. There are some other hidden flavors but they are very difficult to pick out. The malty sweetness is far too overpowering, along with the alcohol content of this brew.

Moutfeel: Ruined my palate for the rest of the night, with a the taste of rubbing alcohol, so kinda hard to judge.

Drinkability: If I'm homeless and looking for a cheap drunk, I'd pick this. It's a lot like a European hooker, cheap, loaded with alcohol, and no character.

Again, this reminds me of a poorly concocted Bock or Dubbel.

A:Looks like a traditional golden amber, low carbonation, and a good bit of foamy head.

S: Hard to characterize. Sweet and artificial.

T: Whoa... tastes like it smells, very sweet, and artificial. It tastes like a juice that went horribly wrong.. Not offensive.. not undrinkable... just.. not good.

M: Really hard to judge with the taste bitch slapping you around..

D: Um.. no.. This is one of those beers you convince your friends to buy (once) because they locked you out of your phone, or killed your pet hampster when you were in 5th grade... "naw man it's totally awesome, and 9.5% alcohol! How can it be bad?!?"

Ah revenge..

I feel like it should get some points for originality, but it would loose on plating and taste.

Bottle pours a clear, golden orange body with a small, large bubbled head that quickly vanishes. Scattered wisps of lace are left behind. Aroma is golden delicious apples and booze. Light medium body is well carbonated but has a sickly sweetness. Taste has fruity apple notes, lots of alcohol, and a very bready maltiness. No hop presence. Syrupy sweetness grows sickly after a couple of sips. Most of this one goes down the drain.

T: Flavor is starts out with apples, and is a tad thin with big sweet orange flavor in the middle. It finishes with some carbonation fizzle going down with some malt lacing. Alcohol is pretty well hidden for 9.5%. there is a slight spicy hop presence in the end as well. Decent Lithuanian beer.

M: moderate, decent amount of carbonation, a little rough around the edges though

D: Moderate drinkablilty some sweet (honey) alcohol upon warming. overall not bad, a step above mediocre.

Extra Stout is printed on the label of this one but after holding the bottle up to the light it is apparent they just mean heavy. Pretty corny looking label but it is lacking the sort of silly slogan some of their other beers have.

Dirty golden with a slight tinge of red. Lots of bubbling and a decent but short lived head that left some nice lacing behind.

The smell is sweet and grainy with a medicinal spiciness.

It tastes the same as it smells only in a more aggressive way. Sickeningly sweet with an off-putting herbal/medicinal spice.

The syrupy/oily mouthfeel hides most of the carbonation, I guess if you're looking for a quick buzz it wouldn't be too tough to drink this one pretty quickly.... but watch out, once it warms the alcohol shines through with a vengeance.

It tastes like cheap candy. And not good cheap candy that will lull you into a state of nostalgia. This is "I'm not going to that house next year on Halloween" cheap candy. After a glass what was left in the bottle went down the drain.

Lithuanian Ghetto Liquor very sweet with an alcohol kick. Sweet candy corn aroma. Nice pour strong carbonation real cool to watch. Sticky sugary mouthfeel. Candy flavor common among the beers I've had from this country, but there is nothing to back the sweet taste. Very one dimensional and definitely a slammer.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pilsener glass. Had an amber-red color and a cloudy texture. There was a decent amount of head and some OK lacing.

S: What I mainly picked up from the smell on this one is the alcohol, though some of the malt came through a little. Not very pleasant.

T: As with the smell, the alcohol pushes its way to the top. There's a hint of maltiness, but the alcohol is so oppressive it's kind of unbelievable.

M: A below average amount of carbonation and a slick finish. Medium-bodied.

D: I tried this one just for the experience of trying a Lithuanian beer. It seems to exist solely for the purpose of getting the drinker completely wasted, not for the enjoyment of drinking. It's not a nice beer to drink.

Well I'm confused. When I bought the "Extra Strong Stout" I for some reason was expecting some in the vein of a Russian Imperial, but this would be...not that. It is not good, however, so that's something there.

Don't really know what to say. It looks sort of like pee, smells like alcohol and sweetness and grain, and tastes the same. Feel is okay. Haven't been too impressed with anything I've gotten from Eastern Europe so far (I'm talking about beer here people).

Serving type: 1pt bottle decanted into tumbler

A: Pours like a slightly rosy apple juice or cider. Thin head from high carbonation disperses quickly. Lots of bubbles. Very small amount of lacing. Clear.

S: Spicy citrus. Beginning to wonder if it actually IS cider. Very sweet, not terribly complex. Can smell the malt, with a hint of what I think is cinnamon.

T: Light and spicy citrus right up front, disperses into a very sweet caramel with a small amount of citrus. Highly carbonated, slightly viscous. Hops and caramel linger lightly in the aftertaste. A tiny hint of lemon slips in when everything else is gone. Can't taste the ABV at all.

M: Light and spicy from the carbonation, but with enough body to not be watery. Plenty of potent flavor. Again, a little viscous probably from the sweet caramel.

D: Easy to drink without having to think about it. Fairly potent flavors but not overly so. Malt balance is decent, hops could be a little more present, though maybe that's the the Great Lakes fan in me. I'm not sure if the high carbonation is good or bad though.

This is my first "Euro-lager," and while it doesn't exactly stand out as an amazing drink, it certainly isn't as bad as some people have rated it. Definitely worth a try if you want a unique flavor.

So. Zaibo. We finally meet. Do your worst!

This "extra stout beer" from Lithuania caught my eye the other day at the beer store and I decided I had to give it a try. I mean, seriously, how many chances do you get to drink extra stout Lithuanian beers here in the States. I liked the label too. Very Eastern block circa 1972 meets Greek Olympiad. Cool.

The Zaibo appears a pretty, clear copper/gold color with a light fluffy white head on top. Not much lace to speak of. It smells of light fruit scents. Mostly apple, pear, and strawberry. Some malt scents, as well as a noticeable alcohol presence. The taste is sweet and tart on the intake. But man, does this sucker pack a whallop with a boozy finish and a funky fermented banana aftertaste. Seriously, this is a weird tasting beer. And yet, it draws me back for more, repeatedly. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, and unexpectedly firm.

The Zaibo is an acquired taste for sure. It doesn't really match up with most American craft beers, or old world Euro brews either. It's kind of in its own little niche, as far as beers go. The brewers of Zaibo haven't really mastered the art of malt/hop balance yet, as this could definitely use a heavy dose of the latter. But I'm not so sure they haven't done exactly what they set out to do either, which is create a mildly drinkable strong beer. All that said, it's not that bad, and I'd be more than willing to experiment with the Rinkuskiu brewery again in the future. The Zaibo is worth trying if you're looking for something different.

I'm sorry lihtuania, you need better beer.

this isn't impressive at all...

pours a gold amber with a thin finger of head that dissipates into pretty lace and smells rather boring as a bog of fermented wheat while tasting like a pretty weak wave of grain and feeling like a regular beer and drinking like a pretty easy going malt liquor... it's not that great. it's pretty boring... it's pretty gross really... but compared to american beer it's awesome...

come on lithuania, get some shit going!

.5L bottle has a freshness label but no dates stamped, here goes....

Pours an effervesent bronze with 2 fingers of white head. Bubbles continue to rise from the bottom throughout, but no head retention or lacing

S: Breadyness& a little iron

T: Fruitty (apricot), butterscotch & alcohol up front. Honey & apple skins follow. Finishes with some citric hops, apricots, & warming alcohol that verges on hot

MF: Chewy with low carbonation

Drinks slow, waming/alcohol heat shines through once this sucker warms up, shows every bit of the 9% alcohol. Worse euro strong lagers out there, but this this would be plan c or d. Better than your basic malt liqour options
