Out of a bottle this beer was a reddish/copper color with one finger of khaki-colored head. The retention was only so-so and the lacing light. Still, given that this beer listed it’s ALC as 8.2% I’m not surprised the head didn’t last too long. The aroma was odd; not what I think of when I look for in a porter. I smelled some caramel malt but also green apples, a bit of citrus, booze, adjunct grains and yeast. As it turned out, it wasn’t ‘dark’ in either the aroma or the palate. The flavors were similar to the smells being mostly a combination of adjunct grains, sour fruit, caramel malt and a finish of bread and yeast. Odd. The mouthfeel was average, the body medium and the carbonation medium. Rather like a hybrid between malt liquor and an Irish red, this beer was not a Porter in any way and I wondered if this label was a translation or a cultural interpretation problem? Either way, not really worth it.

It says porter on the bottle. It pours a transparent amber color. And clearly smells nothing like a porter should. I think there is some language barrier going on.

Cream colored head is made of rather large sized bubbles.

Smells yeasty and kind of like apples.

This taste more like a below average pale ale. Absolutely not a porter by my definition. Really nothing special going on here. Some off flavors happening as the end of the sip. Maybe even signs of oxidization or something. This beer might be old, I really wish it had some kind of freshness date on it.

Not very good. I rarely am that blunt on judging beer.

I had a hard time rating this beer because it is not to style. I rated the beer regardless of the label on the bottle, just as beer. And it's still a pretty hurtin' beer.

(Served in a nonic)
A- This beer pours a hazy copper red body with a light tan creamy head that last a short bit. There are big bubbles that pop out of the hazy and trail up the glass.

S- The light caramel syrup note has a wheat bread flour hint that comes through as the beer opens. Otherwise the smell is pretty clean.

T- The tin taste to the light toasted malt extract flavor is slightly dry. There is a faint hop note in the clean finish. There is a bitterness in the finish that grows as the beer opens and a sugar sweetness that comes through in the malt aswell.

M- The medium mouthfeel has no alcohol heat noticed.

O- This beer is bland and a bit off with only a hint of toasted malt and even those flavors taste artificial.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours hazy reddish orange color with a small 1 finger fairly dense off white head with decent retention that reduces to a ring of lacing. Minimal lacing on the glass. Aromas of caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, chocolate, apricot, plum, light fruits, herbal hops, and a touch of alcohol. Interesting aromas with good strength. Taste of apricot, plum, biscuit, toasted malt, caramel, molasses, light chocolate, and herbal hops. Very dry on the finish; with slight lingering notes of light fruit, toasted malt, caramel, and herbal hops for an instant. Good amount of flavor, but quite a bit uninteresting. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming noticed at all. Overall this is an ok beer. Not really offensive at all, just really uninteresting and slightly bland. Definitely does not fit the porter style advertised on the label.

Pours hazy reddish orange color with a smalloff white head with decent lace retention. Aromas of caramel, toasted malt, biscuit, chocolate, apricot, plum, light fruits, herbal hops, and a touch of alcohol. Interesting aromas with good strength. Taste of apricot, plum, biscuit, toasted malt, caramel, and herbal hops. Very dry on the finish. Good amount of flavor, but quite a bit uninteresting. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel. Not too bad, but not what I expect a quality porter to be.
