a: dull golden in color. hardly carbonated.
s: sweet, malty, herby. average.
t: Tart, not so flavorful, sour and unpleasant.
m: quite watery, slight fizz on the tongue.
o: pretty muted, but could be worse. i'Ve read somewhere that its organic, but that would surprise me for how disappointing it is.

I enjoyed my first one of these while sitting at a cafe in Budva, Montenegro. Wife and I were both finishing up ours when the waitress brought two more out that we did not order. We told her, and she pointed at the guy at the table next to us and told us (in very bad english) he had bought them. The guy was nice enough, talked with us for a bit as he was from Montenegro, and said the beer was from his home town of Niksic. He said he was proud the beer was from his town and it was a good beer. However, he was drinking a Heineken...
The beer is nothing more than average. Its more or less what you can expect from this area. It seems that most locals (at least at the bars we went to) were ordering the standard Euro imports (Heinekens, Stellas, etc) and not this beer, if that means anything. I honestly thought it more or less tastes the same as any of the above imports, and not worth paying an extra euro for those. As stated, nothing bad but nothing special....

Clear brassy gold with a two finger white head. Head falls quickly but leaves some lacing.
Smell reminds me of wet leaves, with a touch of flowery hops. Not unpleasant, but not great.
Taste is that of a crisp, well balanced lager. A little more bitter to finish than average, but it seems to work well here. Bready up front and a bit flowery in the hops. I like it more than I expected.
Light body with sharp carbonation. Unremarkable in the mouthfeel department.
Works fine as a fairweather lager, but it is no showstopper.

I had out of a .5L can while in Belgrade.
A. Clear gold. Basically no bubbles. No real head or lacing to speak of.
S. Has a slight bit stronger metallic scent than Jelen.
T. More of a malty beer than Jelen, but they're both basically the same beer: Slight sourness, but absolutely no definable taste. It wears off quickly and starts to takes like alcoholic vitamin water.
M. Nothing that registers.
D. I would say it's a tad more drinkable than Jelen. They're basically the same, but a SLIGHT nod to this one.

Pours out a deep golden hue, tall white frothy head that slowly settles, leaving lots of lacing in its wake.
Aroma is part grain, part funk, though not offensive.
Musty dry grains up front in the flavour, long sour/tart middle, with a finish more akin to veggies than hops, with a dry, sullen aftertaste that starts to seem resentful.
Mouthfeel has a bit of body to it due to the carbonation, and is very dry, I'm feeling more parched after drinking this than quenched.
A lager that strikes me as dusty when all is said and done, it dries the mouth and leaves you more thirsty than when you started. If that's the case I'll choose something else to drink next time.

Pours a three finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving a little lace. Crystal clear pale amber color. Malty nose. Light carbonation and very light bodied. Flavor is sweet that ends with a hint of hops. Good session beer but boring. $1.99 for a 500ml bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT. Best by Mar 26, 2010.

Pours a clear, golden color. One inch head of a white color. Great retention and slight lacing. Smells of hops, yeast, pale malt, slight sweet malt, and slight citrus. Fits the style of a Czech Pilsener. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of yeast, pale malt, slight sweet malt, slight metallic, and some grain. Overall, the grain and metallic flavors hurt an otherwise decent Czech.

well @ least I get to add another country to my beer bucket list...here goes.
Decent enough in the looks department. If this beer was a woman she'd probably bake a nice apple pie. Rich amber in color, clear, with a large frothy head that died quickly leaving it's next of kin Lacing to hold the fort.
Grassy, musty, and fermented grain are the main aromas picked up by my nose.
meh...tastes very metallic on the initial swipe past the taste buds. Grainy malt and hop bitterness don't appear until at least a count of 4 or 5 steamboats after that. Finish is very dry, dare I say salty.
dry finish sort of ruins the whole mouthfeel experience for me.
The more I sample beer from east of Austria and the old Czechslovakia, the more I find it similar in the way you feel more thirsty after drinking one than before...

Now listening to: Dave Edmunds - Crawling From the Wreckage
A- pours like a cheap American lager, only sligtly cloudy
S- smells of wheat and lawn
T- bready yeast...big time! You might first say that this is mild in flavor, but you quickly find yourself wondering how you can take another sip.
M- Malty and nicely carbonated
D- Very tough to get through even one of these.

This beer looks really good with a load of fluffy white head which leaves some decent lacing! Nose falls short with only a faint grainy whiff of malt in there, nothing else - hops please!. Taste, well, there's a trend here and its down hill. This has that eastern European macro beer taste that is basically like a weak American lager only with a metallic taste in the background - that's no way to finish. Overall, this beer looks good and from there things just fall apart. I bought a 500ml bottle and I will finish it, but mostly on principal.

Interesting. I first had this beer quite some years ago and it was a lot meatier. I had also had it back home in La Crosse, Wis. USA. This beer I'm having here in Beograd from a Maxi Mart. It has a remarkably freshness to it that is of course very appealing. The quality of freshness overcomes the thinness, and other deficiencies of character. I think as long as you get this beer this fresh, you've got a pretty decent brew. But, I'd be very wary of getting this anywhere outside its home hood.
