Drunk at a "?" restauarant in Belgrade (Serbia).

Dark brown-black body topped by a creamy tan head.
Smooth medium-full body with light carbonation.
Overly drank, hop-forward aroma with better and more balanced flavor.

It is nice.

Pours a very dark, translucent ruby with a thick, off white head that rapidly fades.
Light nose of raisins and malt.
Palate of molasses and sweet malt. Low carbonation and very light mouthfeel.
Definite swartzbier character but does not the evolved character of the best examples.

500ml Can brought back from Montenegro as a gift:
A nice beer & one that definitely went down better than their Pivo did. Smooth, easy-going beer that had a pleasant roasted taste & some nice dark malts coming through. It kept things simple & the balance wasn't bad either, a nice beer but not the best dark lager from the region by any stretch sadly.

Beautiful clear dark beer with a ruby glint. Nice head, though it dissipates leaving ample effervescence. Very malty, warm with caramel, but leaves a nice bitterish aftertaste that is a good foil for the sweet malt.

This is certainly one of the better beers of the Balkans. Hints of raisins and a nice nose of plum jam. This is the Serbian version— Nikšićko Tamno Specijalno from tall can purchased in Belgrade. [review from May 2010 notes]

From a bottle, pours a thin cola brown color with a small fizzy off-white head that looks alot like soda.

The nose is light roast, caramel, toffee, a bit nutty. The flavor is sweet caramel, chocolate malt, a little tart and some earthy notes and crisp hops. The mouthfeel is fine, clean and crisp.

Overall, I had low expectations and this passed them. Not bad at all.
