I'm assessing this from memory from my vacation last week in the Virgin Islands. Tried this because the alternatives were completely unacceptable. I made the right choice.

A - It looked fine with a hazy orangish tinge. In retrospect, it promised more than it delivered. However, almost no head at all.

S - After wondering how this beer I'd never heard of was going to taste, I was again pleasantly surprised; smeelled fine; nothing memorable, but nothing offensive, either.

T - Initially tasted like an above-average IPA, but as the taste lingered, the bitterness crept-up and somewhat ambushed the initial flavor.

M - Average; not terribly smooth, but the experience wasn't bad at all.

D - I could drink a few of these at a time, but that probably had a lot to do with having it with fried shrimp & fries at a beach bar on St John's, USVI.

I was pleasantly surprised that this was a pretty decent beer, but it's by no means a great IPA. I think this might have been the best beer that was offered at several of the places I went to in the islands.

Appearance- dark amber coloring, no opacity.
Aroma- strong butterscotch characteristic from the malts. Hops provide a sprucelike and piney backbone to this beer.
Taste- Very earthy on the palette with a dry finish.
Feel- Medium carbonation, very drinkable.
Overall- 3.5/5 Above-average, unique style IPA.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle (brewed in Portland, Maine USA by Shipyard) date stamped & it's fresh.

Should be listed under Shipyard. But perhaps this is better than their IPA?

A: into a pint glass, the pour is amber-copper clear, with a slight head that fades fast, and moderate lacing. Low carbonation.

S: Bready with earthy hops and a candy, butterscotch layer. No surprise. Reminds me of Ipswitch ( a NE Fave IPA). Lovely citrus.

T: Grassy and salt water. Earthy. Akin to Ipswitch. Subtle with pale malts balanced w bitter hops. Again the citris zing combined with candy that arrives before the end.

F: Smooth and medium-to-light, perhaps a bit watery compared to the best. very sessionable.
A bit soapy and tropical ala Cigar City. I'd drink this again.
