Deep brown, and impressively clear. Nice khaki head.

A real nice, leaf fire-like smoke presence with a mild roasty character in the nose. Some hop presence is notable.

The taste is incredibly well balanced between the smoke, the roast and bready maltiness. Some hops plend in with the roast and it's a perfect bittering contrast to the smoke, which is definite, but never 'meaty'. It's light, but well carbonated in the mouth. Extremely drinkable,

The finish is faint and spectral, with the smoke teasing your toungue. I've been fiending for that smoke since I had this beer. Great beer for autumn. Great beer in general.

Pours mahogany, more brown than red, topped with a one finger khaki head. Leaves full rings of lacing.
Roasted chocolate, cedar aroma.
Smoky taste, chocolate, burnt wood, toasted dark bread, a bit acrid, like drinking a porter when sitting next to a roaring fireplace.
Full feel.

Apparance: dark brown, near black, with a nicely retained head, good 1/4" cocoa-tanned foam.
Smoke hits first in the nose, blasts over subtler whiffs of coffee, very roasty and smokey.
Taste: bacon, yep, that's what we get on first swallow, great snap on the palate, terific texture. Smooth, well-balanced. medium-bodied, shortish finish.
An easy-drinking smoked beer, and a very smooth porter, went down without a trouble, and that's a good thing, son.

big thanks to sulldaddy for gettin' this closer to my lips!

This also came with a real label that did mention "limited brewer's offering". Pours with light brown, one-fingered bubbly head, fades quickly and leaves barely any lace. Medium carbonation. Very dark red/amber color. Nose is the roasted coffee. Flavor is also a deep roasted coffee that finishes smooth. $1.75 for a 12oz bottle.

Deep brown color with some mahogany reddish highlights. Oatmeal colored lumpy head of irregular bubbles that lingers a bit, but then sinks quickly. Roasted malt aroma, a bit of hops, and a teeny bit of smoke wisping up. Mouthfeel is full and smooth, followed by rich flavors of smoke and roasted malts. A little salty, or am I just imagining that cuz it reminds me of jerky? Undercurrent of molasses, more roasted malt, and some hops in the finish. Good stuff.

Pours a good looking dark brown with a moderate fluffy tan head. Good retention and lacing.

Smells like a ham from the smokehouse. Lots of earthen woody vapors.

Busting with nice fat mouthfuls of smoky goodness. Woody malts are hidden beneath a wave of smoke tinged charcoal. Nice amounts of quality coffee flavor mixing with the smoke. Drying as it finishes with a lingering twang of smoke that stays with you.

Mouthfeel is very filling and the flavor and carbonation only add to the sensation.

This is what I was hoping the Stone would be but wasn't. An excellent beer that goes super with cheese.

on-tap at Redbone's

Very little head that dissipated quickly. Inky body with a beautiful
red glow at the bottom of the glass. Served a bit too cold for my taste.

Faint high-pitched aroma, not smoky at all. Until you drink. The moderate smoke is well balanced with the malt, blending into its own complex, not entirely malt or smoke but both at once. The aftertaste has a bit of cigarette butt, or creosote taste. Is it peat smoke?

As the glass warms the smoke swells and then fades as my tongue grows accustomed to it. Fine, fizzy carbonation in a medium light-body.

I like this much more than I had expected of a smoked beer, but I don't think I could drink more than one at a sitting.

This beer pours very dark brown with ruby tints when held to the light. I get a small beige head that fades quickly to a thin layer around the edge of my glass.
Aroma is rich and malty and has a strong smoky character. The smokiness reminds me of a campfire the morning after. Very appealing.
There is prickly carbonation and average body.
The flavor is a hit of smoke first followed by mild sweet chocolate hint and some roasted malt too. Overall smoke is the dominate flavor.
The beer is a little bit thin in my opinion and could use a slightly stronger malt presence. But, it is very drinkable and enjoyable. I'll be sure to buy it again.

This Smoked Porter pours with a nice foamy light brown/tan head. It is very dark brown almost black with a interesting mahogany color characteristic when the light hits it just right. Some chocolate notes mixed in with the definite smoky aroma. The aroma sets you up for the flavor which is also ever so slightly chocolate with a strong dose of smokyness all well balanced with a good porter bitterness.

Poured a dark, cola color (black in the middle with brownish edges) with a pancake batter-like head. Aroma was smokey (obviously), almost exactly like a piece of charcoal from an old campfire, along with a sharp chicory coffee note. The taste is much like the smell, mostly a smoked malt flavor with the coffee, but with much more balanced for the average beer lover than an authentic rauchbier (not that rauchbier is by any means bad, just different). Mouthfeel is smooth and carbonation is well-suited. Basically, if you are looking for a smokey beer, buy this. I have bought other smoked beers and, while they were exactly what I was looking for, their drinkability was lowered simply because they were too smokey. This on the other hand was perfect - absolutely smokey while still providing a balance that kept it drinkable. If you are a smoked beer virgin looking for a good time, drink this (while it lasts, of course)!

A nicely carbonated offering. Appearance was chocolate with a nice head that dissipated somewhat rapidly, but left some lacing. Nice smoky, malty aroma that invites you to drink. Taste was excellent with a great balance of smoke and maltiness. Mouthfeel was good, with a good deal of carbonation that felt right. Aftertaste had a "fizzy" note from the carbonation that was unusual, but refreshing.

I'm in love with this beer!
Pours a blackened umber color with a medium off white head.
Aroma is only mildly smoky, with copious roasted malts and a pretty impressive hop presence taking over. Pretty much an american robust porter with an addition of smoked malt. Light coffee undercurrent, beneath the smokiness.
Flavor is bold and clean, with a big roastiness and rich smoked flavor coming through in the end. Some fig in the middle. A touch of peatiness and a bit of raisin in the aftertaste. Complex taste, with moderate carbonation. Some hoppiness in the end, finishing dry.
Really goddam good. I'd call it a triumph, and by far their best beer.

12 oz brown long neck bottle with no freshness date.

Appearance: Deep mahogany brown colour with a lush foamy head that leaves a distinct tan lace behind.

Smell: Light and creamy smokiness with a twang of roasted malt in the nose.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Thick rolling smoothness of a sturdy medium body, smokiness is very level all the way through. Contracting roasted charcoal like flavours hit the palate with suggestions of espresso and milk chocolate. Mild hop bitterness and the sweetness of the malt are layered within. Finishes with a rough roasted note, lingering smoke and some residual sweetness.

Notes: I love how Paper City tackles a style and brings it to a new level, perfectly balanced and just enough smoke to go around. A big plate of pulled pork, black beans and dirty rice was a perfect pairing.

Smoked Porter by PCB poured a tall thick brown head.It slowly dissolved leaving a clumpy ice cream looking head. The color was a solid black.Trace amounts of lace left around the glass. The aroma was of smoke with a bready coffee hint.Very almost overwhelming smoke flavor.I feel like i just smoked a cigar.A creamy mouthfeel thats easy to swallow with lingering bitterness.Coffee and smoke aftertastes.Maybe a bit more carbonation on the mouthfeel.Feels kind of flat.If you smoke cigarettes and drink coffee you''ll get a two for one here.Full body with a heavy malt a roasted grain flavor.Overall I enjoy it and will drink it again.
