My sister was visiting a relative in Klamath Falls, when I suddenly got the bright idea of seeing if she could find some "Deschutes" or "Hair of the Dog" during her stay. I called the shop with my request and they were more than helpful, they put beer aside for me, they allowed me to pay over the phone, answered all of my questions, and above all were very courteous to my sister. I really thought the whole endeavor was going to be one big hassle, but thanks to this great family owned business it wasn't. As promised over the phone, I'm writing this review so others can experience this unknown secret in southern Oregon.

The high marks bestowed by previous reviewers were well deserved. Previous management turned this nondescript neighborhood convenience store into a beer (and wine) destination. Portland Street Market once boasted the best selection in town. The current management does not share the passion. Selection is mostly big corporate brands along with Ninkasi, Deschutes and few others. They have a couple of taps for growler fills.

When we moved to Klamath Falls we kept driving past Portland Street (3 blocks from our new house) and I kept seeing neon signs in my peripheral vision. Always wondered if it was a neighborhood store, but never stopped until one day we needed milk and decided to actually drive by and see. Yep. It was a neighborhood convenience store all right. I went in, looked up, saw refer cases in the back and to the back I went. Lo and behold, the most extensive collection of craft brew I'd ever seen at a neighborhood market; micro, macro, hard-to-find, and on top of it all an incredible wine selection.

Oh, and I got milk too...

I quickly got to know Jim, the owner, and once he discovered my passion for beer, and my ability to drive a Facebook page, we became a team. He gets new and unusual beer, I review and post about it on Facebook, and people come buy beer.

Check it out at www.facebook.com/portlandstreetmarket

Cheers!

Here in a town where you would believe that selection is lacking of the microbrew variety. One would be stunned by the selection that can be found here at the A & D.

This store is located in a residential area and is not easily seen from the main highway.

But after you turn up Portland st. A & D is easy to find on your right. Signs outside make you think the coolers will be filled BMC.

Once inside make your way to the back corner of the store, this is where you will find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Somewhat local breweries Deschuttes, Southern Oregon, Caldera are here but the exciting finds were El camino unreal ale, Matilda, Gubna, ten-fidy, sierra 30, Jubel 2010. They had some odd stuff that I didn't even think was available inthis area like Southern Tier, Great lakes, Midnight Sun and a couple others I'm forgetting now. They had Dead guy John-John, Blue moon Grand Cru.

This guy has pushed hard for his selection to be microbrew, his BMC stock is a bit lacking which just makes me so happy.

I will reward this store's awesomeness with many return trips when I can.

For Klamath Falls they have a decent selection of beers. They also try to get different beers in if people request them. Also have a large wine selection and they make good food. The people that work there know what they are talking about and have tried every beer that I have bought from there so far.

When something big comes in you can usually order cases. Like Abyss they had cases of which I am sure is gone now. But I saw that they still had a couple cases of mirror mirror awhile back.

They have beer and wine tastings from time to time.

Non descript looking liquor store adorned with B/M/C signs, cigarette ads, etc.

Once inside, all the way in back, is a fantastic beer selection. Pelican, Dogfish, Siletz, Ninkasi, Midnight Sun, lots of Rogue & lots more. The owner is a beer fan.

A family member who lives in town says they have monthly beer tastings. Hope to be in town when sometime during one of these.

Pretty sure this is the best selection in town.

They also make soups, sandwiches taht looked great. Nice selection of cheese & wine as well.

If in town & looking to grab some bottles to go....this is the place.

This small neighborhood market first came to my attention by way of an advertisement in Celebrator magazine. I was surprised that such a tiny corner store would advertise in Celebrator so I made the effort to check them out last time I visited Klamath. Glad I did. The exterior of this market says "neighborhood convenience store." It has ads for cheap macro beers and cigarettes facing the quiet residential street. But inside is a thoughtful selection of domestic and imported craft beers from the likes of Bear Republic, Lagunitas, St. Peter's, Avery, and a few Belgians. They also sell a full line of Rogue and Siletz. The selection isn't especially large, but it is accommodating and compares quite favorably to say, Pastaworks in Portland, and may just be the best selection of bottled beer within a fifty mile radius of Klamath Falls. They also have a very decent selection of wine. Plus Doritos, Marlboro....
