Review from 2018
22oz bottle at share, 2015 vintage. Dark brown pour, rich nutty aroma, some bourbon notes. Taste is velvety smooth, sweet and nutty, and boozy too. It all comes together nicely, and some aging has made this a bit better.

Infected? Flat murky mess that smells and tastes of dishwater.

2900th Review
22 oz. Bomber
Gold Foil/Capped
2015 Vintage
10% ABV
Pours a very nice cloudy brown color, very nice carbonation, with a nice small creamy off-white head, with some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with a pretty good dose of whiskey, sweet, nutty. The taste is malty, sweet, pretty big whiskey note, nutty like. Full body, ABV could be hidden better. Overall, a tasty brew.

Because imperial stout is too easy, the Dry Dock brewers refuse to take the beaten path and embark upon an imperial-strength brown ale to engage the uniqueness of bourbon barrels for a complex palate spread that allows the bourbon to shine greater because of its calmer base style.
Their Double Hazelnut Brown Ale pours coffee-brown showing tawny margins and a dainty creme-like froth which quickly devolves back into the otherwise still body. Its bourbon-laden scent is lavish with hazelnut, coffee, chocolate and toffee, but with a vinous barrel-aged twang. Flavors are smooth, silky and sweet with creamy chocolate and toasted barley.
As the beer coats the palate, its under carbonated sweetness clings to the tongue and saturates it fully with long-lasting caramel, toffee, hazelnut and milk chocolate. Buffered with the mild vinous tartness, the oak and somewhat stale flavors add as much challenge to the taste as it does charm. Finishing just bitter enough to offset the cloying nature of sweetness, its fleeting flavors are nutty, toasty and broadly woodsy.
Full, lush but slightly lifeless, the still beer resists any fade toward dryness, crispness or clean flavor. Instead, it favors a long and saturated sweetness that dissected by red wine tannin, bourbon warmth and a hint of apple cider.

Pours a murky brown that sits still in the glass. Aroma is nutty, earthy, dirt, English malts, and cream soda. Nose is mostly hazelnut without much barrel character. But the flavor brings on the barrel in full force. At the very least, it is an interesting mix between hazelnut, spice from the whiskey barrel, and the malt bill. Zero hop notes to speak of. It makes no bones about it in being exactly what it claims to be. A fair amount of sweetness accompanied by some whiskey booze. I dig it at times, I can't stand it at times. But either way, it's worth a shot.
