Found on a strech of street in Antwerpen that seems out of place. As soon as we got settled we set out to find this gem. Found it after a short walk, only to see that it was closed. After a slight meltdown (we only had one evening in town) Lein came to the door and let me know that they would be opening at 8.00pm. After dinner we returned to a very quiet evening with just one other table of locals, and many prowling cats.
The tome (you cannot just call it a list) is mind bendingly huge with enough vintages to drown in. Dirk was in a most grumpy mood and unwilling to break out a few of the more older vintages (oh how I would've loved to try the 82 Hardy's) I did have the pleasure of trying the 2005 Gouden Carolus Christmas (sublime), last years Struise Tsjeeses, Aardmonnik and the Mikkeller/Struise DIPA. All of which were not listed (recommend taking a look in the back cellar window and kindly asking if anything you see is available to be had).
Lein was more than helpful and answered any of my queries which I'm sure she's heard many times before. I returned to share a few more with the surly cats the next morning at 11.00am. Dirk still grumpy, but adding a certain atmosphere just by the presence of his wild hair, was quiet while Lein was talkative and served me some great vintage draft beer (Achouffe & Gouden Carolus).
This is place that's worth returning many times over your stay if possible and hopefully building a repoire with "Doc Brown". A bonus if your travel partner is not interested in beer, the street that it's located on has outstanding off beat clothing and shoe stores.

Was here a few years back, but absolutely so unique. Not impressive on the outside and a bit out of the way in Antwerp, but when you get in they hit you with a beer listing that is hard to comprehend. I ordered some cellar bottles that were hard to find....I had very old Trappist Ale. So unique....if you love beer you absolutely have to go here

This is not an average beer bar, this is an experience.
Cluttered, dodgy and dirty. I liked it a lot.
Didn't try the vintage beers but stuck with some aweome beers (like Mikkeller Black) they had on tap.
Service is different. Not bad or anything but different as others have explained here as well.
When in Antwerp you just got to go here just because it is what it is.

I went here with high expectations but I was pretty disappointed. I started with the bottle list but didn't find anything I had to have that I felt was worth the money. I then moved to the tap list and didn't really recognize anything. So I picked two for a friend and I to split. They were pretty bad. I don't know if it was the beer themselves or their age, condition, etc. I wasn't impressed with the atmosphere but the service was very good. I just don't get what so many people see in this place.
