Yellow to copper in colour with lots of carbonation moving in a swirling fashion, a dense and very fine white head and a small ring of lace.
Smells fruity (banana) and malty (a bit grainy). Further, a slight musty note from the yeast (and maybe some wheat?), plus some more malty sweetness. Definitely not an exceptional smell -- simple but decent.
The taste is hoppy and malty-sweet (and again there is a somewhat nauseating banana note) upfront, and then slowly crosses a line towards a bitter finish that is in no way enjoyable. I experienced the same phenomenon with the brewer's Hefeweisse. It's a nasty kind of bitterness that makes you forget about the rest in the taste (which is not that much actually) and keeps you from going on drinking.
Moutfeel is all right, quite lively, but at a certain point becomes a bit too slick or oily.
I cannot recommend this beer.

A Festbier brewed for the 1200th anniversary of the city of Forchheim Germany.
Fine white head left a few wisps of lace. Transparent copper colored beer shows little life. Malt sweetness in the aroma along with hints of toasted bread, tea, butterscotch and stale grain. The aroma carries over into the flavor. The sweetness fades midway through and a light bitterness kicks. Finishes with a nasty grainy flavor. Watery mouthfeel that is low on carbonation. Lack of carbonation along with overly sweet (is it fully fermented?) flavors and gross grainy finish make for an unpleasant drink. Luckily it was brewed for a one time event.
