For a low abv beer this packs a whole lot of flavor. No hops but tons of malty character. Roasted nut, pecan, dry chocolate malt, barley grain and bran flakes all wrap up in a very easy to drink package.

I really like this local brewer. This is a very solid scotch style ale. Dark amber color, smooth drinkable finish. I nodded appreciation when it crossed my lips...i did not exhibit exhalation, just pleasant acceptance of a finely crafted libation. It lands respectfully between a B and B+ on the yummy scale.

A: Beautiful dark copper with a slightly off white head. looks like a sponge with very large bubbles.
S: strong toffee. overwhelming slightly toasted biscuit with hints of caramel. sweet grains. very light touches of chocolate on the edges of the nose.
T: very much follows the taste. a huge malt characteristic. thick toffee with slight hints of toast and even a bit of tobacco. lots of biscuit character. just the slightest bit of caramel to offset the floral hop character.
M: very sharp carbonation makes this lighter than the taste would indicate. long toffee hang.
O: Overall this a very solid offering. great for spring. warm toffee, light body. /83

12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a hazy light brown with a thick one finger light tan head. The head remains on the beer for a long time with tons of lacing. Almost reminds me of a nitro pour.
There is a citrusy aroma along with some light caramel and toast. Not sure if it is the heather tips or not but there is an aroma I just can't really put my finger on. Kind of floral but not something I have experienced before.
Some citrus floral and citrus on the taste along with a moderate nuttiness. There is some medium roast and light caramel that is somewhat reminiscent of an English brown. A little bit of grass along with a light bitterness. Mouthfeel is very creamy and smooth and is quite nitro-like.
Overall, a decent sessionable but slightly underwhelming beer. Not very scottish and more like an English Brown IMO. Nonetheless I would probably pick it up again.

Appearance - Pours a dark brown/copper color with an inch thick, creamy white head that dissipates quickly. Leaves a very nice lacing.
Smell - The aroma doesn't come through very strong.. Smells earthy with feint hints of toffee.
Taste - Very malty with a strong caramel flavor. Earthy, feint hints of coffee and chocolate, and a very light bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall - This is a pretty good beer. Tastes similar to a brown ale though..

12 ounce bottle from Ryan011235, poured into a Duvel tulip. The hue of the body is a touch lighter than what you might expect from the style and the head is rather modest, but let's see what we're dealing with here.
A light, almost airy nose. It's pleasant, although again, we're not exactly tracking to style so far. Moderately sweet malty aromas with light notes of tangy toffee and apple. Light grassy hops in the background. Tastes closer to a proper Scottish Ale than it smells; although the caramelization isn't there, the tobaccoish malt profile and nutty/earthy flavors are appealing. Medium bodied with a fair amount of carbonation and a nice toasted finish. Crank the malt profile a notch or two toward the caramel end of the scale and you'd really be onto something here.
