Damn fall release so that make this beer well over 5+ months old.
A - Well that explains the lack of head just a mild sticky lace ring. Beer color is a deep orange amber color with some carbonation bubbles.
S - Smell has some citrus hop and a slight herbal tea. Hope it doesn't taste too skunky.
T - Actually it's quite good. Starts with a bit of citrus hops in reminiscent of DIPA's then it sort of fades to your typical herbal tea splash of ESB's. Maybe it's the caramel/toffee malts that does it. I could image fresh the hops being much stronger.
M - Best part of this beer is how well the ABV is hidden. Drinks like a 5-6% ESB.
Overall I enjoyed this beer but didn't love it. I may have it again fresh and change my score but I really like how well the hops and herbal tea flavors meshed in this brew.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazy dark copper with a one finger off-white head. Pretty good head retention and nice lacing clinging to the sides of the glass.

Aroma is very floral with some citrus. a little bit of light caramel as well and some toast. Quite nice.

Flavor has light floral and citrus hop flavor up front transitioning to caramel, toffee, and a little toasted malt. Some nice earth flavors in there really help bring out an autumn character in this beer. Bitterness is moderate and the beer finishes slightly sticky with no alcohol detectable whatsoever.

Overall, a really nice fall beer that I would never guess was 8%. Drinkability is not very high due to the abv but definitely a beer to seek out.

2012 vintage. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a transparent burnt orange with a minor haze. There's a lack of head and lacing; with alcohol legs and decent retention. The aromas have a faint fruitiness and is dominated by caramel malts and toffee. It's slightly floral, but not too vibrant. The flavors are full of caramel and toffee and seem very grainy. There's a touch of grapefruit that lingers, giving it a subtle bitterness. The flavors are fine, but a little boring and one dimensional. Very earthy. Finishes dry. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of full-bodied. The carbonation is active, slightly prickly, giving this beer energy. The alcohol goes unnoticed and isn't present.

This is a well crafted beer, it's just not too exciting. I was trying really hard to get into this one. It lacks the depth I've come to expect with alot of Mt. Carmel's beers. It can still hit the spot outside on an autumn night though.
