A big, puffy, egg-white-colored head rushes up the sides of the glass as I pour, thanks to a level of carbonation that nearly makes this look like soda pop. However, there's not a great deal of lacing. The beer goes from translucent yellow-orange to a muddy apricot after pouring the yeast, yet the viscosity itself remains thin. Peach and banana smells explode out of the bottle (nice!) but as soon as I put my nose to the glass they disappear (d'oh!). What happened? All that remains are hints of banana puree and canned peach syrup over a base of white-bready malt. Flavors are vaguely fruity and sweet: dried banana chips with just a dash of clove that resolves into a mealy, somewhat interesting, apple-jack aftertaste; but I think cantaloupe is the big thing here. Although the carbonation is forceful on the palate, the liquid itself is juicy, with very little body... this Weizen could use a good bit more Hefe. Serviceable rather than inspiring. Beer that approaches carbonated cantaloupe juice isn't always what I'm in the mood for, but come those hot, lazy summer afternoons, I'll be on my patio downing half a case of these puppies. Just like I do every year.

Sampled last night on 7/21/14. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a "Cheers-Boston' handled glass stein.
Pours a hazy golden pour with a good 2- finger thick head that lasted a while. Left lots of lacing when sipped. Smells of wheat with sweet orange and spice. The taste was pretty much the same and on the sweet side. Very easy to drink and no bad aftertaste. Hefeweizens are all over the board and this one is one of the best!

Poured a nice deep golden color with two fingers of fluffy white head. Quite nice in appearance and very true to form. Scents of clove-like phenols, banana-like esters, hints of bubblegum and some doughy, bready wheat malt. A good aroma that is true to style, though not standout. Flavor begins with a nice sweet banana flavor with hints of clove and grainy malt balancing. In the middle light bubblegum flavors join the banana and clove and add depth. Finish is semi-sweet, with notes of banana, clove, bubblegum and grainy malt. Aftertaste is grainy wheat malt and clove. A good, though basic hefeweizen flavor profile. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with high carbonation and a smooth, creamy feel. Quite pleasant and very true to style. Overall this is a good basic hefeweizen that hits the main notes of the style, though it doesn't do a great deal to standout. Still a nice beer and very refreshing in Summer.
