Served on tap in a pint glass.

A- Cloudy yellow appearance with a lot of head.

S- Definitely has that hefeweizen smell, but not as strong as most hefeweizens.

T- Excellent taste. Very well balanced beer. Not too fruity or sweet at all.

M- Very smooth mouthfeel for a hefeweizen.

D- One of the most drinkable hefeweizen's I have ever had.

Overall this is an excellent hefeweizen. One of the best and probably the most drinkable I have ever had.

A- Cloudy, orange-gold. 2 inch off-white head that slowly settles. Holds a nice lace throughout.

S- Bready wheat with notes of banana, lemon and some spice. Not an overpowering smell overall.

T- There is a bready-wheatness that can be noted throughout the whole taste. It's highlight with a fruity sweetness and tartness as well as banana and some spice on the end. An extremely well balance taste.

M- Silky and smooth. Lower but refreshing carbonation.

D- Extremely drinkable due to the mouthfeel and very well-balanced taste.

Overall, this is one of my favorite weisbiers. I compare most others to this one.

Nice Hefe, good golden orange pour thick creamy head and nice lacing. Aroma of wheat and mild banana. A little thin but surprisingly creamy feeling. Pretty good standard flavor, nice amount of malt with moderate banana and clove flavors. Nice and yeasty it's not the cream of the crop but still makes for a good drink.

Pours a golden colour with a thick creamy head that disappears pretty quickly. Minimal lacing to the glass. Smells sweet, fruity and wheaty. Tastes sweet and wheaty with a banana undertones. Low on the carbonation and very light and refreshing. Nice drop.

Poured this golden colored beer into a pint glass. The foam that came with the beer was a great bliss. The smell of wheat, coliander, cloves and good beer great the nose. The taste follows suit in this beer and overall presents a great beer to have anytime of the year no matter what the weather is like outside.

Very, very similar to Hacker-Pschorr's hefeweizen. That is not a bad thing, as I really love Hacker-Pschorr's. Most people tend to prefer Franziskaner over Paulaner or Hacker-Pschorr, however, I don't. Both HP and Paulaner have a fruity, more tropical feel to them. Slightly banana-esque, easy to drink, shocks the taste buds. Classic cloudy golden hefeweizen hue. I'd have to drink this and Hacker-Pschorr right next to each other in order to really document the difference in flavor, but one thing I noticed was that this didn't have the same overpowering, lovely flowery aroma that Hacker-Pschorr had- it was comparitively weak. Very good hefeweizen, you can't go wrong with either this or Hacker-Pschorr.

Reviewed on 3/26/08. Bottle. Pours a nice golden yellow with a beautiful thick, creamy white head. Aroma and taste of wheat, citrus, banana, spices- your typical hefeweizen. Smooth to drink, very carbonated, light-bodied taste. An excellent hefeweizen, although not my favorite of the style. Still, I love my hefes!

Update 6/13/08: On tap at local bar. I don't know if the keg was fresh, but this draught version was not as good as the bottle version I had. Spices were less pronounced and it was less flavorful in general. Flat too. I won't change my rating and hopefully can get a better tap version of this.

Bought at the bottle shop down the road.

Poured into my Weizen glass.

APPEARANCE: Deep yellow golden orange and opaque. Medium amount of carbonation evident, with some bubbles flying up from the bottom. Big fluffy white head looks think and is quite persistent. A relatively thick film remains and some decent lacing down the glass. Very nice looking.

SMELL: Wheat malt, with some cloves and banana undertones in the nose. Scent is medium in strength and very nice.

TASTE: Mostly wheat malt and a slight bit of banana and lemon hop undertones as well. A slightly metallic quality with a bit of a bite at the end. Aftertaste is nice and fades nicely, but the taste is not as big as it could be.

PALATE: Medium-thick body, creamy and goes down pretty smooth. Finishes somewhat sticky as well. This is how a weizen should feel. Great job here.

OVERALL: A great weizen overall. The taste is nothing to write home about, but everything else, especially the look and feel, are exactly what you'd expect from a top notch weizen. Definitely drinkable and worth re-visiting.

Always a good one on tap.

Appearance is a nice cloudy golden color. Give it a swirl and good things will happen in this brew. Great HEAD! Like the kind you got in the frat houses! Thick and Foamy.Great Lacing as well.

Smell is of a textbook hefe. Bannana and clove kick you in the chops! Followed with a very distinct bannana taste(Textbook)and a pleasent mouthfeel. Might be a little heavy on the bannana but over well balanced

This brew is soo smooth you gotta give it a high drinkability! I can and could drink this brew all night long (And happen to do soo on many nights!)

I had to pick this up as this was a style i was interested in trying and the price was good. I'm glad i got this one.

Pouring this was fun, it had a nice lightly toasted wheat color to it. As per the directions...swirl a little left in the bottle and pour...poof! instant cloudiness. Very nice cloudiness. Had a tight dense looking head that held a little bit, an inch high, maybe a little more.

Smell is nice. Reminds me of bread, a little yeasty and a little wheaty. Faint smell of citrus, goes well with the other smells i picked up. Didnt seem heavy or light, felt medium, just right!

Taste is really good. Wheaty, malty, a little yeasty! A smidge of citrus taste. Carbonation was good, not too fizzy and not too flat. Mouthfeel was above average, kinda thick but not heavy. Really felt and tasted well rounded IMO.

Finish was good and the aftertaste was like I had eaten a piece of bread, it wasn't strong but reminded me once again this is a wheat beer.

This really is a good beer for the price and is a little cheaper by the 12 over the 6.

What a difference it makes drinking this beer on-tap. Although I listed the serving type here as bottle, because that is what I have had more often, the on-tap brew which I tried in Muenchen was awesome. It has an amber color with a small, white head. I'm not a huge fan of wheat beers, but with this one it was possible to smell the fruitiness after being poured. The wheat aspect is very noticeable upon drinking, but so is the taste of bananas. When drinking from the bottle however, this taste of fruit is mostly sacrificed for preservatives. This beer was a pleasant surprise for a large Muenchen brewery.

Pours a hazy golden color out of the bottle into my pilsner glass. Thick white pillow of creamy head appears and leaves a good lace as I drink.

Smells clean and flowery, with hints of fruit. I detect bananas and oranges.

Tastes fresh of banana and orange. Great tasting hefe....

Mouthfeel is a dissapopintment. With this much head, had little carbonation to feel and was also a bit watered down for my taste.

Overall a great example of this complex brew.

I had the opportunity to put together a beer tasting at work today, using beers of which we had plenty due to a recent order. This was the only beer of the four sampled that I hadn't tried previously. After a tiny taste, I had to buy a bottle.

Pours an unmercifully hazy copper hue with a bubbly white head that settles quickly. Decent lacing.

The aroma is of wonderful wild yeast, very much like some of the better Belgian brews I've had as of late. Spicy and with hints of what is about to hit your tongue. Bananas, cloves and the like. You know the routine if you're a fan of this type of stuff.

Flavor is -- again -- comparable to a good wit. A bit fruity and definitely spicy. Super-refreshing.

Mouthfeel is quite nice. Thanks to the abundance of yeast it's not too thin and, yet it's not too thick either. Carbonation is spot-on too. Nice dry finish to boot.

Drinkability is extremely high. This would make for one bad-ass session brew to be sure.

I love this wheat beer, even "out of season" in my mind. While not the best, and at times at little too orange-y, the citrus is not overwhelming & both the flavor & appearance result in my smile...especially with the sauerbraten & spaetzl that my wife just made!

I love Paulaner. This hefeweizen sets the standard for all other hefs. Pours a deep golden cloudy color. Pretty good amount of yeast. The taste depends on how much of the yeast you pour out of the bottle. Delicious wheat flavors are obvious, with undertones of citrus. This is the best hefeweizen, if you ask me. I also got it in a minikeg once-- i suggest getting that if you can.

330ml brown bottle. best before 06/09.

poured vigorously into a big wheat beer glass. a bit of fine sediment left in the bottle (the home brewer in me wonders if i could revive that?) the beer itself is a vibrant hazy golden color. high carbonation makes it look alive. frothy white head settles from a good inch thick to about half after several minutes.

text book banana and clove aroma with a hint of yeast. not in-your-face strong but easy to take notice of. light enough to keep it refreshing and make you want to take another sniff.

light, clean, refreshing taste. good balance all around. seriously easy to drink. surprising that its 5.5% as it goes down so quick and easy. fantastic.

Had this on tap on the Coffee Table Bistro/Lounge in Eagle Rock.

This brew had a small white head that quickly fizzed out. Not much retention or lacing. Nice gold color, slightly cloudy.

Took a whiff of the beer and was pleasantly surprised. A combination of wheat, citrus, slightly yeasty aroma.

This heff has a good taste, slightly sweet to begin with and a slight tang at the finish. Light on the tounge, very easy to drink.

Pretty decent brew; I'm not a huge fan of hefe-weissen's in general (nor do I hate them, they're just not my favorite type of beer) but this one definitely got my attention and would definitely have more in the future.

Pours a very nice white thick head -- very active carb as a Weiss should be. Aroma of yeast some malitness. Wonderful initial refreshing taste. Some lemon and banana tones along with that light Weiss body you'd expect. It's so nice to have a 12oz Weiss beer available. To me, the perfect summer beer or to try out on a BMC drinker. Highly recommended.

A: Cloudy golden color with a pillowy white head that left nice lacing around the glass.

S: A lot of wheat and malts. Some nice banana and a touch of mellow hops.

T: This beer begins with a very creamy bread taste followed up by bananas and some light coriander and lemon.

M: Very crisp and smooth. Medium bodies and nicely carbonated. Very creamy feel to it.

D: This is a great session beer. It is definitely one of my favorite hefewiezens of all. The beer is always consistent and has great flavor so many non beer people might even like it.

Actually had the pleasure of drinking several of these bottles fresh while traveling in Germany. Out of a bottle this beer was a hazy-orange amber color with a two finger head of off-white foam. Good lacing and moderate retention. The aroma was semi-sweet with hints of oranges, bananas and cloves being dominant. The taste was similar though soft as Hefe's go, bananas and cloves were clear at first with the tangy wheat character adding some citric notes. The finish was more lemony and it bit a little at the end. The body was very creamy and the mouthfeel quite smooth. Given the above par flavors and great mouthfeel I have to say this beer was one of the most sessionable beers I tried in the country. I have fond, but dim, memories of it and some Ukraine girls in a hostel...

Okay. I'm not much of a Hefeweizen fan: my tastebuds usually feel battered by over-zealous phenols. But this beer won me over.

It has a lovely cloudy-orange color on the pour, a thick, almond colored head, made of fine bubbles that you can't help but admire, and a fruity-sweet smell that pulls you in.

On tasting, the phenols are there in full-force, but their influence tapers off as you drink, leaving the mouth satisfied and happy (yes, happy).

The more I drink of this beer, the more I like it, and the more hope I have of discovering other Hefe's I might enjoy.

This is a good german hefeweisen. It has a nice yellow cloudy color with a rich white head. The aroma screams of bananas and yeast. The flavor is good for a hefe(not my fav style). It was a little sweet but not too much. The mouthfeel was good, but I couldnt put down a lot of these.

Poured from a 12oz bottle purchased at Gomer's in Lee's Summit.
A - Beautiful, medium golden color with a massive white creamy head. Thick lacing on side of mug.
S - Wheat,tart citrus and clove
T - Tastes of wheat malt, orange, lemon, banana, and clove. Exactly what a good hefe-weizen should taste like.
M - Medium mouthfeel with a little more carbonation than when poured from tap; which is to be expected.
D - Had this on tap in Germany several years ago. While some beers don't translate well from their country of origin, this is a stellar example of one that does. I could drink this all day!

Appearance - Foggy, piss colored brew just what I like out of a nice weizen. head lasts a whole glass

Smell - Bright floral with bananas. Not complex very straightforward

Taste - Lovely wheat with lemon tang. Full bodied from the get go. Not too bubbly to overpower any tastes as some weizens possess.

Mouthfeel - Lingering aftertaste of freshness. Sweet tones stay present in mouth while beer is light yet full.

Drinkability - This is one of my mainstay six-packers. Not too heavy, not too light with flavor that will last until the last drop of the sixth bottle.
