Golden amber colour, fluffy white head that dissipates to a half-centimetre thick cap & leaves some good lacing.

Clove and spices with the main aroma coming from the banana. The smell of wheat & yeast is also apparent

Banana, clove and spices dominating along with orange zest and mild citrus flavours.

Good carbonation and pretty smooth and refreshing. There is a slight tang on the tongue when drank but it's great.

A very well made hefeweizen that looks really good and is a joy to drink overall.

This pours a very hazy pumpkin orange with a two finger eggshell head rising up and dying slowly to a thick ring and cap, with hints of lace. On the nose there is a classic mix of banana, clove, and cinnamon. In the mouth it's more of the same, a firm spice up front with the banana enveloping the mid-palate, with the clove and cinnamon showing up again as part of a longish finish. These hefeweizens might not vary much by elements but more by balance, and the balance here is spectacular. The body is light and creamy.

Overall, this is a fine, fine hefeweizen. I'm not huge on the style in general but this is a great beer, easy to drink, tasty, great-looking, etc.

Bottle from Daily Bar and Grill Chicago.

Appearance is the that great cloudy yellow that hefes have. Small white head went away quick.

Smell was excellent. Mostly of banana and wheaty, slight spice?

Taste was excellent as well...one of the best hefes I've had. Banana and sweet, not bitter at all. Mouthfeel is completely smooth.

Overall a great hefe that ranks among my favorites.

A- Cloudy golden. thick white head, lots of lacing.
S- Smell is a bit of banana, but leans more toward spicy notes.
T- Very phenolic, more so than I ever remember it tasting out of the bottle. A bit of a plastic notes that weren't great. But the banana and spice notes where exactly where hefeweizens should be.
M- Crisp at first, but it's a bit slick as well. Full bodied compared to most hefe's.
O- Not as great as I remember but still the standard by which other hefes are measured for me.

A - poured a frothy pillowy head with good retention - nice cloudy orange wheat colour - meringue like lacing

S - dry biscuit and wheat - light bananas and oranges

T - light malt/wheat - bananas, oranges, and light cloves - very dry crisp refreshing taste

M - decent carbonation and light to medium body - refreshing dryness - easy drinking

O - very nice hefe, not overpowering but well balanced and oh so drinkable (though I have not found a hefe I could not drink all day)

Bottle poured into a Hefe glass.

(A)- Pours a cloudy golden color. Produced a nice large pure white creamy froth head. Great retention and lace.

(S)- Lots of crisp and dry biscuit and wheat with banana and light clove spice.

(T)- Similar to the smell. Lots of crisp dry biscuit/wheat/yeast with tart lemon and subtle clove.

(M)- A crisp carbonation level. A great balance too of creamy wheat and fruit spice. Smooth and refreshing.

(D)- A solid Hefeweizen. A classic for the style and just plain refreshing and enjoyable. Not the best, but a great example nonetheless.

12oz bottle into traditional Hefe glass.

Pours a dark orange like golden hue with plenty of sediment and two fingers worth of a full, thick, frothy, white head that seems to be able to tower over the glass without spilling over. Leaves some serious lace as it slowly dyes down. Doesn't get much better than this.

Yeast is dominant in the nose with some serious wheat biscuit like aromas also coming through. Typical banana and spices are also prevalent with just a slight hint of citrus fruit.

Serious banana sweetness and wheat up front with the slightest hop bitterness on the back end. Good stuff.

Feel is thick, creamy and very refreshing. Could drink these all day;essential for the style and an ideal session beer.

Overall, this is the very definition of a well done traditional German Hefe. For the extensive availability and low cost, this is a no brainer.

Appearence-extraordinary orange biscuit color, with high cream foam, cloudy of course.
Smell- Mild banana, cloves,spices..
Taste- Great banana flavor up front and in the aftertaste. Sour hefeweizen flavor. Very representative of the style.
Mouthfeel-Full feeling, lush, soft, chewy, with minor carbonation.

Overall- this is very good beer, recommended to everyone. You could drink 10 in a row,and then 10 more.

Poured to Paulaner Hefe glass. Looks cool

A: Pours a golden ale with a thick, two finger, whipped and persistent head. Hazy and active with plenty of mini bubbles. Sheeting lace. Excellent for the style.

S: Yeast is king here. Cloves, bananas, earthy yeasts, hints of coriander and cardamom. Grainy and tea-like.

T: Very nice! Banana and cloves are subdued and sweetened on the palate. Very nice and easy to drink. The thought that someone would want a citrus wedge on this is troubling. The beer is near perfect for the style. Grain, cream, banana bread, pecans, cloves.

M: medium to thin body and finely carbonated. Slicks the palate and resonates. nice.

O: This is an outstanding beer. Althought hefeweisen is not my favorite style by any means, this example is obvious in it's superiority to many examples.

Served in a 3Floyds pint glass

My family bought a case of this how was I to turn it down? This beer pours the expected hazy golden color that one would assume with the style. The aroma is really very bland. I get a touch of the clove and some light orange flesh, but in all honesty there's nothing really there. The flavor seriously has the most orange zest flavor of any hefe that I've ever had. Truly there is the sweetness from the wheat and the distinct stylistic clove flavor from the yeast. It goes down smooth, but there is a bit of spice that I can't truly place, but it give a very mild zip to the beer that is quite desirable. I like the overall flavor of this beer, it's not my favorite for the style, but it's still very good.

Poured a 12oz bottle into a weizen glass - best by date was Sept 2011.

A: Hazy copperish pour with a fluffy white head that dissipated at first, then settled to a nice little cap that laced the edges of the glass all the way down.

S: Bananas, clove, tart yeast.

T: Wheat malt, bananas, slight hop bitterness in the finish. Yeast is there as well.

M: Nice & on the thin side of medium. Carbonation moderately high and goes down easy.

O: Great summer beer and great example of a German hefe. Had this after coming in from mowing the lawn and it suited its purpose perfectly. Will be picking up more of these for sessions the rest of this summer.

Poured into a pint glass.

This was my first hefeweizen, and from what I've been told, one of the best around.

I love the color of this beer. A very vibrant, eye-popping amber color. Little head, but sticky lacing.

Smells very yeasty, but nothing too strong.

The banana and clove flavours stick out in this brew. They are balanced very well, making this beer very smooth and drinkable.

A very pleasing beer that would be great for any hot day.

Poured into a Adam Adams glass. Cloudy dark yellowvwith a nice cream colored head that slowly dissipates to a film and ring. Scent is nice but not strong. Some banana but not much. Taste is very well balanced. Banana and citrus with a nice clove finish. Light to medium/light mouthfeel. Excellent easy drinking beer. No problem to down several.

Poured into a weizen glass.

A: Pours a very cloudy, golden color. Looks really great. It appears to be highly carbonated. It has a good sized white head that retains a quarter-inch puck throughout drinking.

S: The smell consists of strong cloves and spices. There are undertones of wheat along with some banana fruitiness.

T: It tastes mostly of wheat and grains. Some hints of cloves and citrus were also detected.

M: There is a pleasant feel from the light-medium body. It has a nice tingle from the carbonation, while not being overpowering. The carbonation leaves a refreshing crisp feel.

D: Overall, it is a fine example of the style blending the clove and wheat smells and tastes. Could easily have a few of these in one sitting.

Appearance-I honestly have no idea how a Hefeweizen can look any better then this beer. Perfect looking dark orange hazy body with hints of yellow with a huge 3 finger creamy white head. Leaves a good amount of beautiful lacing. I want to go swimming in it.

Smell-A good amount of yeast with some spice aroma. Hints of citrus, especially lemon.

Taste-Up front alot of yeast and mellow malts with. Followed by some Citrus, Banana and Spice. The Citrus fades off but the banana and clove last a while on the tongue.

Mouthfeel-Nice mouthfeel, what you would expect out a hefe. Good amount of carbonation.

Overall-Reasonable, Refreshing, Nice looking beer. Not much more to say, buy it and enjoy

Bought a six pack from Table and Vine in West Springfield. The drink poured with a huge head that eventually dissipates into some lacing. Has a slight burnt orange look to the drink. The aromas some citrus, but definitely yeast and bread. Taste was not too bad: some sour citrus and light wheat flavoring. The mouthfeel was a bit light and watery. Helped the drink be refreshing, but it did water down the flavor. Overall, not too bad, but a little too watery.

11.2oz bottle -> pint
best before 8/11 L227016 is screened on the bottle

Pours a mostly clear yellowish orange with a thin creamy white head that doesn't last very long and leaves only dotted lace. Carbonation appears persistent and robust.

Nose: banana yeasty notes, but not much else.

Medium body that finishes light a tight. Sweet malts take a back seat to the banana yeast along with some tangy fruits. Only light tad of bitterness is needed at the end.

Easy to drink but not really jumping out at me.

This beer pours hazy and apricot-colored with a huge cloudy head. Smells like apples, pancakes and flowers.

The taste is wonderful, tangy and crisp. Refreshing. More apples, citrus, and cloves. The tanginess is undermined by a slight malty sweetness, which is married to a gentle hops bitterness. It is incredibly smooth and drinkable, yet sadly it is a bit bland and watery on the finish.

Of all beer styles, this may be my favorite and the one I have explored the most. When it comes to flavor and refreshment, for my money there is just nothing like a good hefeweiss. I first had this one in Munich about 10 years ago. Two years ago, I bought one of those mini-kegs and polished it off in 2 days. This is not my favorite hefeweiss, but it is still a darn good one. You cannot go wrong with Paulaner.

A- Hazy amber-copper color, with a mountainous head of snowy egg-white meringue. Lacy.

S- Malt and golden raisin aromas dominate the muted notes of fruit & spice. Not nearly as inviting as Weihenstephaner or the Edel-Weisse.

T- Flavors of decoction mash wheat, grains, and slightly oxidized yellow fruits.

M, D- Very pleasant feel, and the drinkability is quite effortless.

Smell: Banana, yeasty bread, apple, and clove followed by a hint of citrus and malts.

Taste: Banana and bread up front followed by a hint of caramel malts and a slight citrus hop bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a high level of carbonation.

Overall: A great tasting Hefeweizen. One of the better ones around.

I first had this in Munich some time ago, and drink it fairly frequently over here but for some reason haven't reviewed it yet. It pours a very murky and cloudy orangish copper color with a cloudy, fluffy two finger head, that leaves a bit of lacing. An absolutely beautiful beer, and exactly as a hefeweizen should look. Aroma is of banana, clove, faint orange, and a load of yeast. Yeast hits the tongue first, with pronounced clove and a bit of spiciness, and an almost bubblegum like taste as well. Mouthfeel is very highly carbonated and medium bodied with a great aftertaste. Great beer overall, and not one to miss for Hefeweizen fans.

500 ml bottle poured into a weizen glass.
5.5% ABV, Best Before 05/11

A - With a moderate haze, it's one of the clearer hefes out there. The color still shines a bright golden yellow color. The head is as thick as my hand and lowers very slowly. The sparkly pile of bubbles doesn't leave much lace though.

S - A glowing, effervescent aroma of yeasty esters erupts from this brew; banana, clove, clay, damp earth. Soft wheat is delicate but persistent throughout for a fantastic classic hefe nose!

T - The flavor seems fairly reserved after the potency of the aroma. Light straw hints roughen up the soft wheat and yeast esters fall to the back. Banana and clove mostly.

M - Medium-bodied and soft with a smooth, relaxed finish and higher level of carbonation.

O - Holy summer beer Batman, this thin was brewed to be consumed on a hot day! Good but not one of the more flavorful German hefes out there.
