Served on draught into a 33cl Paulaner glass in France. Price was 3.50 euro.

A: Pours a two finger head of soft delicate cream, good thickness, and great retention. Colour is a hazy orange.

Sm: Orange and lemon peel. A mild strength aroma.

T: Orange and lemon peel ester hops with a curtailing nasty finish. Muted and bland for the style. Simple and poorly built, but balanced.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Far too wet. Not really complementary of the flavours.

Dr: Easy to drink, but lacking flavour. A high price by French standards.

A perennial favorite; hard to believe I haven't reviewed this yet. Pours a cloudy, golden color typical of the style. Tons of frothy white head atop the brew leaves beautiful lace behind. Banana, sweet malt, clove, and citrus in the nose.

Flavors follow the aroma quite smoothly. A nice infusion of spices tingles your tongue midway through differentiates this beer from the herd. Creamy and medium-bodied with prickly carbonation; top marks on drinkability.

Among the best of the easy-to-find-everywhere hefeweizens.

Pours a murky yellow straw color with huge plume of prickly white head, good retention and lacing. Scent leads with yeast, clove and banana before solid notes of fresh and musty wheat present themselves. Taste begins with yeasty banana and clove notes before the grainy wheat and decently bitter grassy hops present themselves, the lack of bold sweetness or citrusy fruityness found in many current renditions really add to the overall experience. Lighter side of medium bodied, a touch creamy yet smooth and crisp, dry finish. For the style, this beer is right up there in almost every category, truly a classic.

Bought in Vienna

A: Pour a cloudy pale orange body with four fingers of beautiful white fluffy head. Retention is great as is the lacing.

S: Nice aroma of wheat, light fruits, cloves and interesting yeast characters.

T: Following the aromas, pleasant taste of nice grainy hops, sweet fruits, banana, cloves and yeast notes.

M: Light bodied with medium carbonation. The texture is light and froathy, much like a typical hefe. After taste is of dry fruit and yeast.

O: Great beer that was very enjoyable. I can't recall having the non-'natural' version, so I can't compare based on that.

Murky, deep golden color with a medium, frothy, white head which diminishes to a small, creamy, white head. Thick, creamy lacing. The nose is spicy and malty. Soap, clove, honey and lemon. The flavor mirrors the spicy, malty aroma and then delivers a big blast of lemon zest. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, semi-dry, tart finish.

This beer pours a slightly hazy gold with thick head that rapidly disappears. It's aroma is of banana, citrus and doughy vanilla. The flavor is banana bread, hay, fresh bread, and a hint of lemon. The mouthfeel is light-medium. Paulaner Hefeweissbier Naturtrub is an excellent beer, refreshing, very drinkable, and a terrific example of the style. Highly recommended!

This brew poured out as a hazy looking golden orange color with some yellow highlights. The head was fluffy and white and it left a little bit of lacing on the on the glass. The smell of the beer is soft with some nice light floral citrus aromas coming off of it. The taste of the beer is subtly sweet with it's wheat character blended with some banana like flavors and other minor citrus flavors. The mouthfeel was smooth also, very easy to drink. Overall this brew is quite good, I tend to enjoy these more in the summer time, but you can honestly have this anytime and be pleased.

A- Pours a cloudy orange colour with an enormous head that retains well. Looks like a good hefeweizen, that's for sure.

S- Typical clove/banana smell. There is really not much else.. Maybe a hint of yeast but that's it.

T- One word describes this well: subdued. There is simply not enough of everything. It's all bready yeast with a little hint of banana on the back. Sure, what's there is still quite nice, but this is way too typical for my liking.

M- Smooth and crisp. Not bad in this area stylistically.

O- This has been a pleasant albeit underwhelming experience drinking this beer. There is nothing terrible about it however. It just lacks any discernible character. As far as I'm concerned, this pales in comprising to the Weihenstephaner hefeweizen.

Cloudy yellow amber with huge silky head with great retention and lacing. Light wheat and banana aroma. Balanced wheat and lager with notes of banana, citrus, and occasionally clove. Creamy feel with a light bite.

Easy drinking and flavorful with a great feel and very inviting look, though I didn’t get too much from the aroma. Fairly light bodied for a hefeweizen, it doesn’t settle heavily and can easily withstand having multiple portions.

Poured from 0.5 L bottle into a weizen-glass.
This is my favorite beer, to which I'm returning over and over again. A prototype of what a really fine weizen should look, smell and taste like.
Hazy golden color with thick and persistent foam, heavenly fine scent of wheat, bread yeast and some hint of fruit, smooth sweetly-sour taste and extremely refreshing pricky mouthfeel. Unlike some of other hefe-weiss beers, this one doesn't taste somehow washed-out .
Drink it chilled and enjoy every sip!

A: Nice hazy/cloudy orange body. Creamy head that has moderate dissipation.

S: Smells of orange or lemon(citrus), wheat, and yeast malt.

T: Taste of citrus(lemon), non existent hop, and light malt. I also get some banana in there.

M: High carbonation, crisp, and medium bodied.

O: It's a refreshing beer, perfect for summer or hot days. Very drinkable.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Best before date of 2/12.

This pours a hazy straw color with a large foamy white head with long retention. The smell is of banana, wheat, and some other spice. Feel is medium to light, nice carbonation. The taste is similar to the smell, I get a sweet banana flavor, some bready / wheat malts, a very nice wheat.

11.2oz bottle into SN tulip pint glass.

A: Pours a slightly hazy citrus amber color with a huge, dense, light cream colored head that slowly faded into a thick film leaving a few spots of lacing behind.
S: I get notes of chalky minerals, clove, and a bit of banana. There is a hint of peppery wheat as well. Not very potent or sweet.
T: A bit more roasted flavors than I’m used to in a heff, but I still get the classic notes of banana, wheat, and clove. There is something medicinal as well, and I also get definite notes of peppery spices. It’s sweet, but not overly so.
M: Medium-thick body but a thinnish, almost watery mouthfeel and very low carbonation. This could be fuller.
O: I was expecting better based on the reviews. It’s not bad at all, just not mind blowing. There was something in the flavor that I just didn’t love.

Another good introductory beer for those looking getting in the hefe style. Serving type was bottle, poured a cloudy golden color with nice foam head, retention was pretty good.

Very balanced taste of fruits, malted wheat and a very slight spice aftertaste. Goes down very smoothly. Medium to low body and carbonation. Overall, a highly recommended beer.

The appearance is a very cloudy golden straw color with tiny bubbles a two finger head of foam, good lacing as well.

Smell is of wheat, banana and maybe some bubble gum, a touch of spice at the end.

The taste is very similar to the smell with lots of wheat and a touch of banana and bubble gum. I get a bit of a metallic flavor in the beer as well which I don't care for. Mouthfeel is light to medium with lots of carbonation.

If it was not for the slight metallic taste this beer would be excellent, but for now I'll just call it good.

Pours a great head, about three fingers width. Cloudy darker brown almost a carmel color. Strong wheat beer smell with a slight sweetness. The taste is exceptional, this is the first I have had this beer and it just shot up my chart to a new original for me. The mouthfeel is where it looses a few points with me, it seems to turn into a froth before you can swallow. Overall a wonderfull beer that i will deffinatly be drinking again.

Appearance is like honey with a huge eggshell head that stands firm above the rim of the glass. However, there is just a slight amount of lacing, and the head fades surprisingly quickly. Typical hefe scents of banana, clove, and a bit of lemon are detected, but could be stronger. The taste seems to lean more toward clove, with a bit of banana. It has just a touch of the bubble gum-like sweetness that I've come to love in other hefes; it's a slightly more floral taste. Mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side; carbonation a bit high. While this is a good hefe, I don't think it measures up to the great ones from Weihenstephaner and Franziskaner.

bought it at the local Beer shop in 0.5 liter bottle and served it at a temperature of 8 Celsius in a 0.5 liter Franziskaner Weizen Glass.
the price was 1.95 euro. Best before end: 09/11 L25001Q

A - tons and tons and tons of carbonation. i totally loved the color and the difference in it from the dark orange at the tinner bottom part of the glass, to the brown at the thicker top.
it poured with two finger creamy colored and textured head with average retention which left good lace on its way off ...

S - dominating yeast and banana aroma, with some sweetness in the back of it.

T - honey, wheat, pears and the bananas again...

M - the carbonation from the appearance can not be felt in your mouth that much and it feels creamy...

this is not the 1st time i drink this beer, and i can say it wont be the last ...
the highly concentrated yeast aroma makes this beer one of few "to die for" when in need of a refreshment ...

BEERly yours,

Someone left this for me quite a while ago but I never got around to it. Been laying on it's side a bit so the yeast is caked on there. The bottle is marked 09/11 so I'm assuming that's the Best Before date.

A - Pours with a great big two finger, creamy head. Cloudy dark orange colour. Very minimal carbonation. A small chunk of lacing is left with a half finger of retention.

S - Lot's of banana, a little yeast, sweet spice, and orange mixed together and balanced nicely.

T -Some grain, lot's of orange and lemon with banana as well. Sweet spice is subdued compared to the aroma.

M - Good carbonation, medium body with some creaminess and a clean finish.

O/D - Proper for the style. Very appropriate, very drinkable, very tasty, and easy to drink with no flaws.

A - Hazy, cloudy, and somewhat bubbly. Looks a bit more robust than a typical hefeweizen.

S - Sweetness compounded with rich notes of banana and clove. One of the most aromatic hefes I have smelled.

T - Very complex and pungent, with intense notes of banana, clove and sweetness. One of the best-tasting hefeweizens around.

M - Thick, creamy, and moderately carbonated, although it doesn't match up to the near-perfect flavor.

O - Anyone who remotely likes hefeweizens should check it out. This should be a standard for other hefes to strive for.

pours a murky apricot colour with a fat but fast disappearing head

nose: ripe banana and rye bread

Poured a hazy golden orange with a wonderful, billowing head. Looks heavenly. Both smell and taste resemble other craft german hefe-weissbiers I've had (especially that advertise following the standards of Reinheitsgebot), with the citrus, clove, and banana hints, although I believe this one focuses on the spicier notes more so than the fruity ones. Smooth mouthfeel, slightly dry. Great beer, and pretty accessible where I'm at, so I'm sure to enjoy again.

Purchased a case from Costco

Pours a very hazy deep gold color with massive pillow head, great lacing. Smells clovey and vaguely banana. Taste is slightly spicy and very smooth. Feels perfect with just the right amount of zing and smoothness.

This is a solid hef - one to keep on hand for hot summer days or with food as well.
