11.2 fl oz potter served in a weizen glass:

A - Pours a murky golden color with a substantial four finger head of decent creaminess. Retention is solid.

S - Yeasty esters on top of citrus notes and clove. Banana esters and sweet honey are present as well. Relatively mild.

T - Honey, sweet sugars, lemon, clove and yeast are all there. Very complex. Many subtle notes abound that I can't even identify.

M - Light bodied, smooth and crisp. Nearly ideal for the style. Dry on the finish.

D - This is definitely the best hefe I've ever had. Quite complex while remaining very drinkable. I'll come back to this one.

This beer pours a slightly hazy golden colour with lots of carbonation rushing up to a substantial and extremely fluffy off-white head.

The aroma is sharp citrus followed by mellow banana and some faint spiciness. Nice and rounded and very appetizing.

The taste is nice, yet somewhat typical. Crisp with a hit of citrus to start, it becomes slightly doughy towards the end. A hint of banana makes for a slight banana bread flavour.

Overall, this is a nice hefeweizen. Nothing completely outstanding, but a solid choice.

Creamy lemon yellow in color. Big, frothy head that sticks around forever and coats the glass in a beautiful lace.

Brilliant aroma of citrus fruits, spicy hops and fresh yeast.

Flavor is very bright, crisp and satisfying. Lemon and orange citrusy hop flavors are forward but not strong. Smooth yeast and even bready malt. Very well balanced and exactly as I think a hefeweizen should taste.

Ultra smooth feel. Crisp carbonation. Good texture from the yeast allows the flavors to play around in your mouth. Crisp, even finish.

I like this a lot. Great balance between complexity, drinkability and refreshment. Felt a little out of place drinking it in the late fall but it was still quite tasty.

Poured into a plastic cup at Jacktoberfest

Appearance: cloudy orange with a frothy 2 finger head that sticks around for sampling some brats

Smell: I'm picking up cherries in my cup; wheat with cherries and other citrus delights

Taste: what a fine mix of wheat with a lingering cherry finish. Didn't expect that. This is so smooth. Clean, crisp. More, please.

Mouthfeel: medium with lots of carbonation

Overall: This one surprised me, in a good way. I was expecting to get a blast of wheat, and that came through nicely, but the cherry taste gave it a "wow". The lady I poured one for at the beer garden had the same reaction. (she smiled and said, "Good pour!") Prosit! Very sessionable.

This is the first wheat beer I tasted, some years ago, and it was with this one that I fell in love with the style. It's also the one against which all the others are judged (most of them coming up short...)

A: Deep orange-straw color, cloudy (I made sure to liberate the sediment from the side of the bottle with a few swirls). The thick head lingers, ...and lingers, ...and still lingers as you reach the bottom of the glass.

S: Wheat, citrus, and maybe a hint of banana ester.

T: True to the label, the wheat taste is up front and dominates. I would normally add a small twist of lemon for extra tartness, but even without it (for this review) there is a faint hint of citrus. A mildly bitter hops finish, that yields again to wheat as it fades from the palate.

M: Moist, medium carbonation. Very refreshing when you're thirsty, or to chase down a plate of German wurst and sauerkraut!

O: Among the best in the class.
Despite the passage of time and tasting many other wheat beers, I still thoroughly enjoy this Hefe-Weizen.

From my beer journal. Reviewed in Mid May 2011.

A: Hazy, copper orange color with a good head and slight lacing.

S: Bananas and cloves win this battle.

T: Cloves and bananas are definitely on the forefront for me. It's a bit cloying for my liking though. I honestly don't get as much of a hops finish as others seem to.

M: Smooth and enjoyable mouthfeel.

O: Not bad at all. Just not quite my cup of tea.

Poured from an 11.2oz bottle into a weizen glass.

A: Pours absolutely perfect! Cloudy, creamy orange body with a glorious mountain of head that fills just to the edge of the glass and hangs around until the glass is empty.

S: Sweet banana and clove with funky hefe yeasts and tangy wheat.

T: Banana is big, but doesn't overtake the balance. Its a tad sweet, but the hops are there to balance it out.

D: Just delicious, and the great balance makes this remarkable refreshing. I could drink these all damn day!

Overall: This is right up there among the great Hefeweizens. Its incredible drinkable and refreshing, but decidingly complex and original. Great, classic brew.

11.2oz can served in a weizen glass.

L - clouded dingy yellow color with a fluffy white head that left streaks of lacing.

S - everything a hefeweizen should smell like.

T - very enjoyable wheat, yeast and mild citrus flavors dance all over the tongue.

F - medium bodied with a satisfying finish.

O - one of the better hefeweizens out there.

This is one of my go-to summer beers. I'm a huge fan of hefeweizens and other wheat beers but I especially enjoy this one. I think its sometimes seen as THE German hefeweizen and I think there is a reason for that.

Appearance - cloudy and straw-colored, gains clarity as it warms, but tastes best cold

Smell - delicious, wheat that doesn't overpower

Taste - also delicious, very crisp and not too much malt presence something that I think some American hefes struggle with

Mouthfeel - smooth, perfect, avoid yeast at all costs of it looks dead

Overall - a great example of what wheat can contribute to an already exceptional beer

Had this beer from (several) liter bottles and on tap in Munich, Germany. I had this beer paired with German breakfast, lunch, dinner...on train rides, porch rides, and every other daily activity. Seriously drank this beer all day every day for 4 days straight. Its a great session beer.
It pours an amazing orange/yellowish hue, perfectly cloudy with a great head. The smell is sublime with citrus and floral notes hinting of the flavours to come. It is refreshing and satisfying. This has to be my favorite Weissbier (Franziskaner Dunkelweiss is second). By the way...you buy this beer in a 20pack of glass liters for around 15 Euro! but id gladly pay double.
