Pours a cloudy light amber color, huge frothy off white head that lasts, fruity spicy aromas of apple, caremel and bananas. Sweet fruity wheat and caremel flavors, very spicy and yeasty. Medium body and has a soft and creamy and somewhat watery mouthfeel, very light and drinkable, I will have to try another bottle of this.

On tap into a weizen glass.

A-The beer was mostly murky and the color of overripe bananas. There was about one finger of dirty-white head that faded to a ring pretty quickly. Some lacing on the glass.

S-Pleasant aromas of banana, wheat, and a touch of clove spice. A little musty smelling.

T-Mild flavors here: wheaty, light malts with a touch of spice from the yeast, and some banana fruit. In other words, the taste followed the smell.

M-Easy drinking with a light to medium body and (for the style) very little carbonation. A touch watery.

O-This was a fairly simple beer. The flavors were not unpleasant, but were just middle of the road in both character and complexity. I would have preferred a little more carbonation and a touch of citrus flavor or something else to liven things up.

It smells like bananas and Cocoa Crispies over a thin layer of peanut butter. The tall, creamy, light-tan head sits above the hazy chestnut colored beer. Soft and smooth mouthfeel with a moderately full body. Yeast and banana flavors up front mix with roasted malt. A hint of lemon merges in at the finish.

.5L, Germany, best by 4/11.

Cloudy light brown with orange highlights. Average head for a Weizen; good retention; okay lacing.

Aroma has hints of creamy banana and other fruity, yeasty phenols. Subtle, but nice.

Flavor is solid, with a mellow banana juice character. Crusty breadiness persists throughout. Slightest bit of toasted malt and chocolate on the backend. Nothing wrong here. Creamy and smooth on the palate, if a bit watery in terms of weight. Drinkability is medium, without the seductiveness that would make me want to have another pint.

This is a decent Dunkelweizen, though it lacks a bit of character. I'll reach for the more interesting Paulaner Hefeweizen (Naturtrüb) next time.

500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. Pours cloudy brown with an enormous offwhite head. Intense banana aroma with notes of caramel, toffee, chocolate and cloves. Refreshing hefe-weissbier flavour, with some extra notes of malts and dark bread, but light-bodied - if blindfolded, I might mistake the flavour for a pale hefe. I wouldn’t mind having this beer as one of my "regulars".

500ml bottle that I brought directly from Bavaria about a month ago... Poured it into my Paulaner wheat beer glass.

A - Looks pretty much like a dunkelweizen should: cloudy medium-brown in colour, with a rich, marshmallow-like, fluffy head. Some nice lacing and pretty solid head retention.

S - Smells pretty similarly to their original hefeweizen: lots of yeast, caramel; some banana and clove; maybe, a hint of chocolate and raisins.

T - Starts out yeasty and clovey; then comes the ripe banana-like sweetness, with hints of caramel. The after-taste is bready (with plenty of wheat) and has got some nice lingering chocolate notes.

M - Slightly lighter than Medium body, which makes it thicker than the regular hefe-weissbier. The carbonation is quite noticeable at first, but then it diminishes a little and I begin to really enjoy every sip. No hint of alcohol. Crisp on the tongue yet quite smooth on the palate.

O - This might not be the most flavourful weissbier dunkel, but it's probably my favourite. I love its smoothness and its great sessionability. It's a shame I can't get it in my region +(

Pours a deep golden colour and is very murky. The head is limited, but what there is, does sit there for the duration. As for the taste, it leaves no doubt that it is a wheat beer... with after taste. The body is full. Really does nothing for me......but then again is not my style of choice...

Pours dark orange with effervescent white head that soon fades to thin patchy layer, almost no lacing. Aroma is ripe bananas, bread and bits of alcohol.

Taste is similar to aroma, bready malt, bananas and weak citrus. Medium/full body with moderate carbonation, more of it could be desired.

Overall, although it provided some refreshment, this beer seemed a bit boring and disappointing to some extent.

Purchased in Germany. 500ml bottle with a 02.07 best by date on it.

Pours a very cloudy dark brown with some hints of amber. The head is two fingers tall, and fades slowly to a to thick cap, leaving behind a solid sheet of foam in the glass.

Smell; this has a solid wheat aroma, with a little clove and bananas. There's a very nice caramel malt presence as well. Pretty much what I would expect in a Dunkel Weizen, but not really outstanding.

Taste; bananas and cloves are present in the flavor along with the wheat and caramel malts. This follows the aroma, but with a hint of bubblegum, and the other flavors are a bit more pronounced than the aroma was.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a very smooth carbonation, and the drinkability is really good. I would have no problem enjoying more than one of these in a night.

A- one of the best pours i have every had. A lovely muddy chocolately copper colour with a toffee fudgy coloured 4 finger head, that poured on like ice cream once the yeast sediment was mixed and poured on top, it couldnt look better to be. Lots of lovely brussel lacing, solid head lasting throughout the beer.

S- Lots of bready malts, slight hints of clove and banana, all very well balanced

T- A bit disappointed here to be honest, all a bit too watery for me, cloves and banana come through but only faintly, tastes a bit diluted. little character and taste doesnt hang about too long after finish,

M- Medium carbonation, a little watery on the finish, maybe slightly thin

D- Drinkability is fine but i would want a dunkel with more character, franziskaner and erdinger beat this one for me. No chocolately notes in taste as i have experienced with other dunkels. An average one!

This dunkel is pretty similar to the hefe-weissbier naturtrub. it pours a dark honey colour with a thick white foam head. the smell is slightly perceptible but it previews the soft, woody flavour with a very slight bitterness. It has a Full body; another good beer by paulaner, although not top notch.
