Clarity, plus, and color, bronze. Fluffy off-white head and superb lacing.

Soft aromas of smooth grain, German yeast, light apple, dry caramel, lagery crispness, and mustiness. Nutty with walnut notes.

Nice grainy malt flavors with appropriate smoothness from lagering. Esters are only faintly fruity now with a big slice of yeast must and a kiss of campfire smokiness. Lovingly toasty with a rough sweetness. Hops provide a choppy bitterness and help kill off the finish.

Rather light in body with a lack of weight on the tongue. Gets trapped in the mouth with a light glaze. Carbonation is quiet at first, then regains confidence late.

A very good Oktoberfest. One of my top picks in the category.

12oz bottle into a frozen mug.

A - Beautiful, crystal clear dark, autumnal amber. Pretty white head that dissipates quickly, leaving little lace.

S - Typical fresh "hay field" smell of a well-crafted euro-lager. Not special, just lagery goodness. Would love to smell a bit more crystal in this one.

T - The taste of any world class lager with some extra caramel and honey notes. The hop bitterness comes out a little more as it warms up.

M - A bit dry, especially at the end, but crisp and refreshing.

O - What a great lager! I'd only had Sam Adams Oktoberfest before this and I thought it was pretty darned good and looked forward to it every Autumn. This was just such an incredibly better Oktoberfest beer. Paulaner Oktoberfest is available at my bottleshop year round and it's going to be a trial to make myself wait until Autumn to buy it.
