poured into a snifter on X-Mas 2011
A nice shade of amber, dark with reds, light, off-white head, thin, fizzes out with little left.
The nose is a fine malty aroma, caramel, nuts, subtle heat, slight smoke and woody with more toffee sweetness. Slight herbal/dry hop aroma with a bit of grainy earthiness.
The flavor is a delightful malt complexity, smooth and gentle sweet smokey effect, earthy hop, dry effect, grainy with some nice subtle but warming heat. Well, rounded, not super complex but highly effective overall.
The fee is a hefty light to medium body, slightly slick malt, but also very easy approach, nothing too hefty eventhough the malt rides in slick.
This one is just right to savor with a fine cigar after a holiday meal!
