1 pt. 9 floz with date of 03/08, served in brooklyn brewery pokal.
this review is after my home brew hiatus from buying other beers, so I have not reviewed a beer in a couple of months.
A - good appearance; head is solid and forms nicely, and the body is a dark burnt orange
S - an incredibly malty nose, with sweet fruit undertone (the beer is not ice cold). the scent immediately reminded me of the samichlaus from 06, in the overall nose
T - the malts come out in full fury as their sweetness breaches my ill prepared palate, bringing fair alcohol in the rear to watch to onslaught. the finish lets lady alcohol make her prowess known: she brings her companions fruitiness and burn. She bites, lingering on my palate as the sweet malts re-envelop my throat, fruit now march in time with the matly force.
MF&D - the MF is nice, just the right amount of low level carbonation; it takes some agitation to get a big response from the bubbles. the drinkability is fine, the alcohol is not impedance to the drinking process, quite the contrary: it mixes very well with the malts. the only complaint is that the feel is a bit thin, maybe I just like a syrupy dopple bock.
