From an 11.2 oz bottle (best before 8/13) into a snifter.
A-The brew pours with a half-finger of khaki head that recedes rather quickly. The beer has a reddish, dark brown hue. Mostly opaque.
S-Smel is quite sweet for the style with sweet alcohol and lightly roasted malts. There is a little bit of chocolate to be found, but dark, overripe fruit is more prevalent.
T-The taste, like the smell, is quite sweet and full of dark fruit. There is just a hint of nutty chocolate and roasted malts on the mid-palate.
M-Light for the style with a smooth and creamy feel. Quite drinkable.
O-This beer was not a bad beer, but if you're a fan of big, malty, rich doppelbocks, prepare for disappointment. Nevertheless, it has some unique qualities (the dark fruit is interesting and almost Belgian quad in style) that make it worth a sip.
