Poured into big mug from 1L can. Beautiful golden amber with thick 1" foam that slowly dissipates.

Sweet malty aroma. I get a little honey and citrus. Wonderful light Marzen type taste. Lots of carbonation. Light mouthfeel. Sweet lightly biscuity flavor faint honey. I could drink a lot of this.

I haven't found this anywhere other than in these limited edition cans. Kind of limits the "drinking a lot" idea. I guess I need to go to Germany.

Presentation: It was poured from a big limited edition 1 liter can into a 1 liter Paulaner Masskrug. The beer came inside of the glass as a package deal. The can has a nice description of the Munich Oktoberfest and the beer. This info also includes its ABV which is 6.0%.

Appearance: Inside the big liter mug the body has a deep golden color with good clarity visible carbonation and a tall bright white head. This head slowly settles down to a much smaller cap that hangs on till the end. Lacing is slick.

Smell: It has white bready maltiness with a nice nutty character and some leafy/earthy/spicy noble hop notes as well.

Taste/Palate: The flavor is very similar to the aroma with the same base of clean bready malt and noble hop notes. Its medium bodied extremely drinkable and lively carbonated.

Notes: All I need now is some good German fest food and maybe some lederhosen to go with the other Paulaner Wiesn beer/glass combination packs I picked up!!!

Poured from a 1 liter can into a huge Paulaner mug.

The beer pours a yellow color with a nice-sized white head. The aroma is a mix of bready malt and some grain notes. Not too much going on but nothing offensive. The flavor is more of the same. I get a lot of grain and bread notes with a little bit of toffee and a hint of grass from the hops. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not really what I come to expect from an Oktoberfest beer, but you have to like the packaging which includes the 1L can and 1L mug for a nice price.

Although my hometown of Waterloo plays host to one of the world's largest Oktoberfest celebrations (which actually just ended yesterday), I'm sure the real thing in Munich would be something amazing to behold. Someday I hope to make the trip to Bayern, but to tide me over until then, the LCBO brought in a lovely Paulaner MaB and 1L can giftset to celebrate the Oktoberfest season. A lovely way to toast a splendid fall day.

The 1L pour was quite something, but it resulted in a brimming frothy head and scads of lacing. The brew itself is a brilliant golden, with visible carbonation until the bitter end (at a whole litre in volume, that 'bitter end' took about 45 minutes to reach). I've got to say, the glassware brings out the very best in this brew; what I'm sure would be underwhelming in a regular lager glass looks bloody brilliant in a shiny new MaB, so forgive my bias.

The nose is satisfactory, but less than exciting. Bready malts, honey sweetness, mild leafy hops, chestnuts. Not entirely unlike a German pils.

The taste is not that of a dark, robust marzen, but again rather like a German pils. Slightly sweet, bready, and with a crisp, hop finish. A touch of lemon to the finish as well. Although I'd very happily drink this over the standard Oktoberfest beer in KW (sadly, Molson Canadian), there's nothing overly interesting about this brew, save for the fact that it's called an "Oktoberfestbier" and comes with a giant MaB. Still, these things can't be overlooked - in a party atmosphere, a brew like this goes down outrageously well in vast quantities, which is a very good thing.

Mouthfeel is quite impressive; even near the finish of the giant can, still a steady carbonation. Lighter bodied, but still above average for the pils style.

A great Oktoberfest quaffer - nothing overly exciting, but damned exciting to drink in such a cool mug in a festive setting. Prosit to another Oktobefest, and looking forward to next year. Gemuetlichkeit!

Poured from one liter can into a liter Paulaner glass mug.

Appearance: Bright and clear golden yellow with a tint of orange and lots of rising bubbles. Big four finger white head that lasts a few minutes before settling into a thin white layer. Foam had some tiny black specs that look like pepper. Decent lacing.

Smell: Sweet and bready caramel malts with toffee. Wheat grains and earthy hops. Some subtle hints of clove and other spices. Mostly grains and malts that stand out here.

Taste: Mildly sweet bready malts with caramel and toffee. Lots of grain. Some earthy hops give a mild bitterness. Light hints of spice. Tastes more like a Helles lager than a classic Marzen. Pretty good balance.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Crisp and creamy.

Overall: A very solid lager even though its different than a typical Marzen. Sweetness and bitterness is nicely balanced.

Been looking for this one since the Oktoberfest beers hit the shelves in September. No luck until I walked into a hole in the wall packy near UConn and... score!

Poured from the 1 Liter can into the corresponding 1 Liter Paulaner stein. Best before March 2011.

Pours a nice light golden color, clean, with a nice foamy head that almost poured out of the top of the stein. Mediocre lacing, though.

Smells like a crisp lager. Clean malt bill with hints of yeast. Bready.

Follows the nose, a really nice lager here. Very bready with hints of sweetness, some lager yeast. Finishes clean with a touch of lemony hops creeping in every now and then.

Fairly light body and neutral mouthfeel. Refreshing.

Yes, this beer is drinkable. A little more flavor than a Euro Lager, and comparable to a good Helles Lager. Easy to drink a liter.

Picked this up to compare it to the Marzen style that I've been enjoying since mid August. Novelty packaging but kind of cool, a liter can of Paulaner Wiesn Bier packed inside of a one liter Paulaner krug. Pours a bright straw deep golden hue crystal clear, egg shell white head forms thick and leaves beautiful scattered lacing. It was worth the 12 bucks I used to have the same krug in college and back then I paid 9 bucks for it. So for 3 dollars extra the beer and glass didn't seem like a bad deal. Aroma has a beautiful honey drizzled malt layer with herbal/spicy noble hops. Flavor is great clean sweet all malt presence huge biscuit/cracker with a touch of honey sweetness. Herbal/spicy German noble hop character balances it out perfectly. I can't think of any other beer I would like to festively drink by the liter, this is a nice version of it with a bit of fruit in the back end a touch of tart green apple actually fits the season. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied healthy but smooth carbonation flowing, it really goes down easy. The most drinkable form of a lager built for fest tents in Munich. I could definitely picture putting a few of these liters down at the big dance someday.

I love this time of the season. I pick this up at my Costco. It came with a huge glass and in a can that is 36oz. I had to pick it up for the German lager glass. This is a very drinkable beer with a great head on it. A nice white head, sight malty taste but some like Warsteiner Oktoberfest. I can drink this beer all day. I can't wait to drink this during foot games. Back to beer, it has sight after taste to me is perfect for fest beers. Check this beer out. I get it there are many different Fest beers out there. There are some fakes but some really good ones that is true to its form. I believe this is one of them. Cheers!

Served perfectly in a litre mug!

Look - poured a deep gold w/perfect creamy 3 finger head. Strong with exellent lacing.

Smell - somewhat bready w/grassy hop character

Taste - follows the smell with a good balanced malty/bready taste and enough hop backbone to make it stand up. Smooth aftertaste with subtle honey note

Feel - carbonated asexpected from Paulaner - plenty of small bubbles but by no means overpowering. Smooth, slightly thin finish but by no means watery.

Overall. Delicious - not perfect but close to what I was anticipating

A strange (but not un-seasonal) find at a suburban Old Chicago in the the downriver Detroit area.

This beer appears crystal clear, gleaming gold hue, with one thin finger of creamy, soapy white head, which renders a broad limestone ring of lace around the glass as it sinks away. It smells of faint wheat grain, a bit of floral fruitiness, and mild yeast. The taste is bready malt, more subtle, spicy yeast, and edgy, grassy, metallic 'meadow' hops. The bubbles are fairly zippy, the body medium weight, and generally smooth. It finishes with a dry bready graininess.

A lighter, more lager-like version of an Oktoberfest, but still enjoyable on a late summer day, and drinkable enough.

Appearance - Your basic medium yellow that is very clear and with a medium head. Not very impressive but still not bad looking

Smell - Hoppy, very light tones of grain and sweetness.

Taste - A very light beer tasting beer with a good medium bitterness but mellow enough to be delicious and drinkable

Mouthfeel - last longs and has great carbonation to keep the good flavor around for several minutes

Overall - a decent drinking beer but I would want a bit more on the appearance and semll
