1L can poured into the accompanying mass krug. Awesome so far.
First of all, this beer is not a Maerzen Oktoberfest, so I am not reviewing it as such. Seems more like a Spezial Helles or similar.
Head foams up nicely after pouring, but dissipates into a thin cap quicker than I'd hoped for. Still, nice lacing on the glass. The beer is a slightly hazy golden color.
Aroma of lightly sweet bready malt and cracker-like grains. Huge melanoidins here. Still awesome.
Flavor: the bready malt flavor is excellent in this beer. Notes of honey, biscuit, slight kiss of noble hops in the finish.
Mouthfeel: here is where this beer falls slightly short. The sweetness tends to build up in the mouth a bit, detracting from drinkability. Carbonation is a bit low as well, and some of the flavors seem a bit muted. I can't help but wonder how much better this beer would be on draft or at least very freshly consumed. My can was sitting on a shelf at room temperature in the store...
Overall, a very interesting concept, and one that I'd like to see more German breweries taking advantage of. The light-blocking can could help a lot of sensitive Bavarian styles survive the voyage across the ocean better. Refrigeration should be mandatory, however.

Appearance: Yellow, lots of carbonation bubbles, but only a mild head.
Smell: Bready, sweet.
Taste: Fruity right off the bat with apple/grape flavors. A little bit of grassy hop comes through. Light body, fizzy feel. Very sweet.
Overall: Beer #2 from the Paulaner mix pack was the Octoberfest Wiesn. Summit recently put out a Wiesn fest beer so I was interested to see how this compared. Unfortunately, I didn't particularly care for this beer. Too sweet, with raw grape/apple flavors usually found in cheapo malt liquors. Strange mouthfeel too.

Pours a clean, clear, golden color. There is a white frothy head, about two fingers of it, that soon settles to only a halo around the edge.
Not much to the nose, there are however some malts and grains to be picked up.
The beginning is neutral, slight sweetness, followed by a balanced body, some more bitterness perhaps, coming to a nicely bittery finish.
Nothing special, but still enjoyable.
