A - near black solid colour, tall mocha head dissipated slowly leaving some random lacing
S - toffee, dark chocolate, light fruity and nutty with a heat of alcohol
T - roasty and espresso malt flavours dominate, lighter caramel and chocolate aromas, subtle candied fruitiness and burnt sugars
M - medium to light body, somewhat on the thin side with a slightly dry finish
O - this is a tough one because it is tasty and easy drinking, but everything about it screams 'porter' rather than brown ale. Worth a try just to see for yourself.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker. A moderate pour produces about 3/4 inch of tan head that contrasts nicely with the deep reddish brown color of the beer. The head sticks to the sides for awhile, leaving wispy, isolated pinwheel galaxies floating on the dark void...

Plenty of pungent malt aromas-flavors in this one, with a distinctive nuttiness. Also a bit of caramel, and maybe a very slight taste of something weedy- rather like lake vegetation (call it the power of suggestion!)- this is more apparent in the aroma. Very clean in the aftertaste, with just a touch of fruitiness. The beer doesn't have much hop flavor- not even of the earthy variety, but I find it very pleasant nonetheless. A fairly creamy mouthfeel is apparent.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this brown, and I think it compares rather well with some of the very best out there in terms of a malt forward profile (the nuttiness is especially appreciated). A wee bit more hops would be recommended, however.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Reviewed live.

A- Half a finger khaki head with low retention. Leaves a nice ring around the edge. Dark mahogany color with high clarity.

S- Chocolate and caramel malts. Slightly sweet. Not much else is ringing out.

T- Semi-sweet semi-bitter maltiness. Chocolate. Nothing much else here. Not bad, but plain. Maybe a bit acrid.

M- Biting carbonation, dry, smoky finish.

O- I was hoping for more, but this isn't terrible. Below average.
