Poured cloudy dark yellow into the wheatbeer glass, off-white head did not last for long. Leaves minor lacing.
The nose is very fruity, promising.
First taste is full-bodied, satisfying. Has a very strong yeast character, but that is right for this type. The aftertaste is strong yeast.
Mouthfeel is prickly, due to the stronger carbonation. We drank it cold, and that effect was enhanced by the carbonation, very refreshing on this hot summer night.
Drinkability is good, probably depends on what somebody is used to. My wife and I had a long day, we were tired and when we drank a bottle of this each, we were actually drunk. So this is not a session beer in our opinion, but somebody else might judge that completely differently. This is an individual thing, I suppose.
Considering the fact that this beer is not from Bavaria but really from Pittsburgh, it is really well done.

A: The beer is slightly hazy light yellow in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured into a weizen glass with a finger high head that died down, consistently leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of bananas and cloves are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has some flavors of wheat from the underlying malts.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy drink and refreshing. It is an excellent American representation of a German hefeweizen and tastes very similar to the weisse beers found in Southern Bavaria.
