A German-style Pils with pale gold color and good body, this crisp, clean and very bitter beer has pronounced hop aroma and is made with the famous Hallertau hops. Kaiser Pils is brewed with triple decoction mashing. A beer worthy of an Emporer.

Aug 2013 On tap Rattle n Hum. So now it's summer & I'm thinkin' pils would be perfect. This contradiction of flavors leaves me wanting. Sure it's got crispness that I'm looking for, but it's body, as noted by the creamy head has it lingering on the tongue. Between the bitterness & the body, I'm looking for a glass of water on the side.

03/15/12 Solid body with a slight bite. Wholesome pilsner but not for summer drinking IMO. Better for fall.

Bottle from trade and sampled with 3 other Penn beers side by side. Pours clear light golden colored with a small white head that recedes quickly. Sweet yet slightly skunked lager smell, some hay, maybe a little honey. Flavor is light and crisp hay with a honey sweetness in the background and the slightly unpleasant finish I get with any lager. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Overall a decent pils.

Bright yellow in color with absolutely perfect clarity. Poured with a tall snowy white foam that quickly reduced to a thick cap. Earthy herbal hop bouquet with grassy, lemon, butter and sweet biscuit notes. Medium bodied with rich, refreshing carbonation and a crisp, dry finish. Malty, biscuity flavors down the middle with herbal hop flavors around the perimeter that close in through the middle. Tangy lemony hop bite from the middle to the end with biscuity notes. Finishes crisply and dryly with a lingering herbal hop bitterness.

Have a few of these in the "gourmet selection" variety case that I bought.
Kaiser is a thinner / lighter and more bitter counter-part to Penn Pilsener.
Probably more similar to Victory Prima Pils .
A text-book clear golden color when you look at the glass in front of a daylight lightbulb.
A nice looking foamy sudsy head that lingers a while . (is there anything more troubling than beer that loses it's sudsy foam quickly ?)

A bit too bitter for me (I don't get into big-hopped beers at all . give me the malt sweet-ness, please.)
Despite that, a good session beer with the low 5% abv .
Probably a good one with spicy foods.
