Had this on tap at the brewery. It pours a deep brown and is almost opaque when held to the light. A mocha colored 1 inch head forms and reduces quickly to a decent lacing. Carbonation is readily visible.
The smell was a bit light. It was primarily notes of coffee and mild levels of dark chocolate. There are also some mild background notes of hops.
The taste is very similar to the aroma and is fairly weak. It actually seems mildly watered down. There is primarily coffee notes with some dark chocolate and some mild hops in the background.
The mouthfeel is again a bit weak. It is medium bodied and seems mildly over-carbonated for the strength of the flavor. It is somewhat smooth but I think this is because it is so light. There is minimal alcohol which keeps the feel light, as well.
Overall, this is a very average beer. It is worth trying but there are many levels of possible improvement. I would enjoy it at the brewery but the seasonals and the panther porter are better. You can drink it fairly easily though and not worry about intoxication because of the low ABV.
