Look: Poured a nice amber/brown color

Smell: Immediate notes of apple and cinnamon, apple pie! Nutmeg, cloves, and perhaps caramel.

Taste: My first reaction was "wow, that's a lot of cinnamon". Sweeter than what I am used to, but didn't really turn me off to the beer. Lots of flavors going on at once. The apple sweetness seemed to be up front and ended with a bitter cinnamon flavor at the end of each taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, easy to drink. Just the right amount of carbonation which made it easier to pick up on all the spices and flavors.

Overall, I really enjoyed this beer. It is quite filling so I personally would have just one pint. It is a great beer to have on a cold day preferably with (or as!) dessert. From my experience, I'd recommend serving slightly warmer and definitely in a glass.

Bottle > Pint Glass

A - Pours a darker brown color, with almost two fingers of off white head, no lacing.
S - Surprisingly floral, a little nutty, pumpkin pie spice.
T - Toasted caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, light floral notes.
M - Just ok, medium feel, a little sticky.
O - Its an ok beer for the season, a little sweet.

Woodstock Inn's Pig's Ear Brown Ale is one of my favorites. So I was anxious to try more of their products.

Love the bottle graphic of the three Jack-O-Lanterns mixing a brew under a full moon. Really puts you in the Autumn mood.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Harpoon IPA glass.

a: Hazy ruby/brown with a finger thick offwhite head which dissipated quickly to a thin surface foam film. No lacing to speak of.

s: Floral/fruit. Pleasant.

t: Cinnamon with slight apple undertones. Bitterish remnants linger.

m: Light to moderate. Slightly watery.

o: OK as a change of pace, certainly reminds of Autumn or Winter. Almost wonder if this would taste better hot, on a cold evening. Beer Toddy anyone?

I favor beer malt and hops flavors too much to consider having this again. But for those who are not fans of such, those for instance who like Redd's or lean towards Leinenkugel's, this could be a real winner.

(copied from blog - written January 6, 2013)

Appearance – Clear red/brown/amber with a small white head.
Smell – Cinnamon straight up.
Taste – Tart apples, cinnamon and sugar.

This was free since it was going out of code at my store... so it was kind of out of season. With that said, it is pretty tasty and could be celebrated with in the fall or spring. There’s moderate carbonation and it’s a pretty easy drink; if you like sweeter beers give it a shot when it is available next fall.
