Purchased as part of a mixed 12 pack, all of which were excellent.
5.2% ABV, 10 IBUs, OG = 12 P. Fermented with a traditional bavarian yeast strain.
Pours to a slightly cloudy light golden, forming a modest white head with average retention and minimal lacing. Carbonation is moderate, about 2.7 or so. The aroma is a little mild in the banana and cloves department, but this bottle is maybe 3 months past it's prime, having a little bit more of a mown hay smell. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean with a light body. The taste is also quite mild in the bananas and cloves and has a hybrid american/bavarian wheat taste, like they used blended yeast. I do remember the fresher bottle that I had a few months ago had a more pronounced traditional taste. Bitterness is very mild. Aftertaste has the suggestion of grass and green apples. A little tart.
This is an OK hefe-weizen. I would pick Ayinger/Paulaner/Wheihenstephaner/Spaten/Schneider/Franziskaner over this considering the negligible price difference.

Presentation: Very cool label in the traditional TDBC fashion with a K-9 theme. Label gives a small description and back story on the beer, serving temperature recommendation, IBU and ABV info, web info, and a bit of brewery info.
Appearance: Aggressively poured from its 12oz brown bottle into a 16oz nonic pint led to a 1½ finger off white head of a light airy density atop a semi hazy orange hay-yellow color beer. Head retention was a modest 1min 54sec before fading to a thin coating and ring with little lacing.
Smell/Aroma: Smells of clove and banana along with a bit of sour tartness combined with a dominant wheat aspect.
Flavor/Taste: Tastes of wheat and a tart sourness on the front end with the wheat sticking around while being joined by banana and a clove spice bite with hints of citrus tartness at the midpoint. Back end is dry with a wheat and banana clove finish and aftertaste.
MouthFeel/Drinkability: On the light side of medium bodied with a crisp refreshing mouthfeel. Very easy drinking and refreshing.
Overall/Comments: A very good hefeweizen that sticks to the roots of the style while adding a bit of a tart twist. This would be great on a hot summers day. If you are in the mood for a good local hefeweizen try this out! Classified as a Hefeweizen @ 5.2% ABV. Consumed 7/7/2013.
