Presentation: Very cool label in the traditional TDBC fashion with a K-9 theme. Label gives a small description and back story on the beer, serving temperature recommendation, IBU and ABV info, web info, and a bit of brewery info.

Appearance: Aggressively poured from its 12oz brown bottle into a 16oz nonic pint led to a 1½ finger off white head of a light airy density atop a semi hazy orange hay-yellow color beer. Head retention was a modest 1min 54sec before fading to a thin coating and ring with little lacing.

Smell/Aroma: Smells of clove and banana along with a bit of sour tartness combined with a dominant wheat aspect.

Flavor/Taste: Tastes of wheat and a tart sourness on the front end with the wheat sticking around while being joined by banana and a clove spice bite with hints of citrus tartness at the midpoint. Back end is dry with a wheat and banana clove finish and aftertaste.

MouthFeel/Drinkability: On the light side of medium bodied with a crisp refreshing mouthfeel. Very easy drinking and refreshing.

Overall/Comments: A very good hefeweizen that sticks to the roots of the style while adding a bit of a tart twist. This would be great on a hot summers day. If you are in the mood for a good local hefeweizen try this out! Classified as a Hefeweizen @ 5.2% ABV. Consumed 7/7/2013.

12oz brown bottle, no freshness date.

The wheat stands tall with dense froth, very cloudy but not enough to block the view of all of the bubbles. Powdered clove, dried bananas and chalky yeast infiltrate the nostrils. Smooth creamy yet bitty from the yeast presence ... there is a nice little crispness snap as well. Big yeast and wheat twang, dry clove and a fruitiness (banana and pear for the most part). Faint esters and more yeast. Finishes very dry.

A good stab a the style, a bit too much yeast if that is possible but it seemed to have slightly taken over here. Good drinking regardless.

Pours a clouded apricot golden orange forms a nice bright white head. Aroma has some nice citrus tones with sharp wheat accents. A bit of banana/clove but it's pretty subtle compared to the German counterparts brewed out there. Flavor is really sharp with a citric tone and finishes with banaa bubblegum and clove notes. Cabonation in the body is a bit off not as effervescent and creamy as other hefeweizens. Body is light to medium nothing out of whack here. Overall I could drink a couple of these but the Sierra Nevada Kellerweiss/or most German versions are straight up better tasting beers.

It's hot on my deck, and this marks my first Hefeweizen of the year. A nice attempt, but misses the mark slightly. A little too much going on with the mouth feel and flavor notes. I really haven't found a beer of this style that can rival those from the motherland. :-) Still, a nice refreshing choice for a hot day on the deck.

beautiful semi-transparent amber color. this has great hints of citrus and goes down very smoothly. it reminds me almost of blue moon's citrus smell/taste but a more complex flavor. this has a subtle clove/cinnamon smell but not so much in the taste. would be great paired with an orange slice or a pineapple/banana garnish.

Orange coloured body, some white head. pleasant enough wheat aromas. Taste a bit orangey, cloves, bannana bread, and above average mouthfeel, although some carbonation offset. Decent drinkability, though not terribly. It's the style but not the best representative.

pours out a flat cloudy orange color with 0 head, faint aromas of vanilla and banana.

i'm not getting much yeast in the flavor, yet it does have a unique refreshing flavor. it is mostly a spicy bite of cloves that leaves a dry taste on the tongue. a little bit of banananess in the back. Good summer session for sure.

i do feel like i just smoked a clove cigarette after drinking this

Picked up a bottle from Abe's Cold Beer. It's a smooth ale, but it's just halfway between an American wheat and a hefeweizen with a mix of toasty wheat and yeast character. There are mild clove and banana notes, but the flavor tastes a bit thin and simple for a hefe. The clove and spice are stronger in the aroma, but it's not enough to make for a complex, satisfying beer. Not a bad beer, but not a great hefe.

Whippet Wheat brewed by Thirsty Dog Brewing Company, with an ABV of 5.20% This brew pours out a nice cloudy, golden amber color, with a nice withe head .The brew has has the look of most Hefeweizen brews on the market. The smell of Whippet Wheat is sweet, with some, grains , and malts. This brew has a faint smell to it. Not much to the smell of this brew. Now for the taste, it is bold with flavor. You pick up on the sweetness in this brew. Puts you in smoothie, at the smoothie bar. Not saying that is a bad thing. There is a lot going going on in this brew. Whippet Wheat has a nice balance to it, there is nothing overpoweing about this brew. Overall I'm giving Whippet Wheat a 4.5 out 5. I would buy this brew again.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a weizen glass.

A slow pour yields an unimpressive 1-finger white head that quickly fades to a light dusting. The body is a clear deep golden color with a good amount of rising bubbles. Lacing is minimal to nearly non-existant.

Strong wheat is the dominant aroma with notes of citrus, banana, and clove.

Tangy sour apple and green banana overshadow a light wheat and spicy clove. The flavors are complimenting and even for the style. While decent, the flavors are unfortunately weak.

Light bodied with good carbonation, this beer is refreshing and easily drinkable. It passes over the tongue nicely and does not overpower foods.

The body is much too clear for an unfiltered hefeweizen. The head retention and lacing were also disappointing. The flavors were pretty standard and good, but rather weak compared to other beers of this style.

From the bottle in a pint glass, this hefe pours a cloudy, dirty, light amber color with yellow highlights. A moderate head of white dissipating foam fades to a thin fluffy layer with light lacing. The nose is banana, clove, some light wheat notes, and a strong well water note I have never smelled before. Flavors follow with a moderate banana flavor, medium clove on the back, lemon zest, on the middle, and an odd flavor liken unto well water like I have not tasted in a long time. Creamy and smooth with prickly on the aftertaste. Not one I would visit again and a disappointment from one of my favorite breweries in Ohio.

hazy and cloudy look to this one I have to admit, as I was waiting to find some sediment, but none came forward. Nice three inches of white then topped out over the glass and settled down lightly into a nice little pillow of white, which was reinforced but lots of carbonation.

The aroma was light and very pleasing. Nice touches of grain, light wheat and a touch of a banana like aroma all coming through rather nicely. Some almost light grass like hops bouncing around in there as well. The flavor was very crisp, very clean with a well rounded profile that was very pleasing. Nice light rush of grass and grain, light bready malts and a touch of banana again coming through quite cleanly and clearly
