Tap at Grapevine in Fort Mill. Solid black with a layer of light tan head. Sticks nicely to the glass.
Aroma, malty vanilla, some chocolate, some oaky bourbon. Not overly pungeant.
Taste, Bold and strong quality flavors. The gambit, chocolates, caramel, vanilla, molasses. Sweeter notes at first, then more dark chocolate, cocoa, barrel and earth.
Near full bodied. Coating, just a faint warming. Actually warms up in a hurry to the point of hurting a bit.
If the aroma was as robust as the flavors this would be world class. Also the heat knocks it just a bit.

Buckeyeboy provided this 12oz bottle tonight at a random Tuesday tasting.
Pours pitch black with a coating thickness... dark brown head leaves good lacing.
Nose has pretty good barrel presence, but seems pretty ashy. Vanilla and hints of cocoa are hammered pretty heavy by an acrid dark malt presence.
Flavor is a little better... slightly more sweetness helps tie the barrel and dark maltiness together... but it falls pretty flat on the finish and a lingering ashy/burnt malt profile just hangs and hangs.
Body is lighter than expected... carbonation is pretty proper.
Thanks again Jeremy!!

A - Nice and dark. Almost black. Formed a nice head which dissipated after a bit. Minimal lacing in a snifter.
S - Vanilla and bourbon hit the nose first.
T - A nice, mellow bourbon shows itself first. Very good for the ABV. Finishes with a semi-sweet roasty chocolate.
M - Not too heavy, not too light. Definitely lingers around long after a taste.
O - Excellent BA stout. Excited to see how these mature.
