Nothing more than an OK offering from Thirsty Dog. Try if offered, but don't go out of your way to seek. The citra notes are subdued by what I can only perceive as a lack of overall balance.

Love Thirsty Dog brewery but found this IPA to be lacking. The flavor was overly bitter and the aftertaste was too drying. Mouth feel was watery.

Sampled at SAVOR 2015. Nice dank and citrusy taste, but falls a little flat. A little watery in the aftertaste.

On cask at cellar temp. Frothy head. Very fresh, slightly sweet and moderately bitter. Nice showcase of citra.

Pours a clear amber with one finger thick creamy white head, settles to a thin ring, splotches of lace on the glass. Smell: grassy, tangerine, light biscuit. Taste: grapefruit, orange peel, grassy, dried sugared mango note, more sugary pale malt. Body is really cut by the bitterness, thinning out and finishing a bit chalky. Decent but easily the most disappointing citra IPA I've had.

Slightly hazy, amber pour with a lacy head.
Funky, skunky, super hoppy, citrus aroma.
Tastes are that of citrus his, sweet, funky pine and bubble gum taste.
Mouth feel is really bitter. Pleasant bitter!
This is a really good modern IPA! WELL done Indianapolis!

Cool name/branding, Citra IPAs get my excited. but this left me questioning a lot. Big bitterness through and through, not a particularly pretty pour, murky brown. The beer itself is heavy and malty, and still bitter. kinda rough. No bottled on date, it's possible this may just be an old bottle(?) I hope. Not my Jam

This was terrible. Bottom of bottle may have shown a Julian date: 4130, which I'm afraid indicates it's a year old.

Cloudy orange, frothy foam, looks nice enough.

Smell is all gross wet grains, silage, moldy bread.

Taste is sweet then bitter. Caramel malt and dandelion green bitterness. Bleh. Medium bodied, average carbonation. Nothing special, would have to try a fresh sample to re-rate.

A: clear; copper colored; 2+ finger ivory head that receded slowly to a thick cap; very nice lacing;

S: catty;

T: catty as well, although there are tropical fruit and citrus notes in the background; moderate bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: not the Citra notes I expected;

Bitter beyond belief! Had to cut it with Yuengling 50/50 just to get it down. I love Thirsty Dog but this stuff is not for me. :(

Poured out of a 12 bottle into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a clear, light to medium golden color with lots of streams of little bubbles rapidly and continuously rising to the beer's surface. Has a white head that is about 2/3 of an inch thick when first poured before settling to a solid 1/4 of an inch thick with good lacing. Aromas of citrus, floral, dank pine hops followed by some biscuit malty mild sweetness. The taste is pretty much the same, with nice citrusy, grapefruit, resinous, piney, floral hop flavors upfront that give way to some biscuity, bready, mild malt sweetness. The hop flavor certainly does dominate, but this beer is not overly bitter. The other aforementioned aspects of the hop profile have quite a nice presence. Has a slightly crisp, mainly smooth and creamy and frothy, medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Finishes clean with a bit of a dry aftertaste. Very drinkable and refreshing on this very warm spring night here in Cleveland.

couldn't find a date code, and i suspect this was an older bottle, because i am not getting any of those beautiful citrus notes you'd expect from citra. nice malt body, though.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into brandy glass

A - A golden dandelion body with a fantastically frothy white head. Ample lacing.

S - Characteristic Citra hop smell. The mix of bright citrus, fresh flowers, dank hemp, and onion. Not overpowering, but still crisp and pleasant.

T - Much like the smell, the vitrus, floral, dank, and savory flavors complement a light, biscuity malt backbone. The balance is superb, as the honey notes from the malt perfectly accent the citrus and flower from the hops. The finish has a refined bitterness and citrus.

M - The mouthfeel is creamy and bready. Carbonation is spot-on.

O - With a relative abundance of citra hop brews out there, this one is quite good. I have never had Zombie Dust, but this is probably the second best I have sampled after Tree House Eureka. I had a Citra Mantra immediately following the Citra Dog and the Thirsty Dog was the far superior ale. Glad I picked this up on my trip to Asheville!

I feel like this is a very underrated IPA, this is one of the best citrus IPA's you can get regularly.

From a bottle. Loght golden body with a big pungent sweet resin aroma. Lots of citrus flavor, but I also get a hint of onion taste. Not really digging the savory flavors or the hint of onion. Maybe this would be a good beer to cook with. Not one of the better citra hop examples

Second beer of the day. Here goes:

A: Not very good. Murky but light orange. Pours a tiny head with very little lacing. Not much carbonation apparent.

S: OK, not great, though. Huge floral and grassy smells; also a lot of citrus. However, I'm missing that tropical sensation that I get from other citra-hopped beers.

T: Not bad. Taste follows the flowery smell, which is a good thing. Grassy hops linger at the back of the tongue long after consumption. Very little malt.

F: Bad. Far too watery; not carbonation. Just bad for the style, IMO.

O: OK beer. Will not get again, though - certainly no Zombie Dust killer, which is what was advertised at the store.

It's has a nice Amber/cider look. Very mild smell, nothing too distinct. Taste is not hoppy enough for an ipa, on the watery side. Overall a pretty weak feel, disappointed with the hops concentration. Could be a good session beer

A: Pours a hazy brassy golden yellow in color with light amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and some apricot + orange highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense foamy light beige head that very slowly reduces to a very thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of slightly sweet citrus/grapefruit and citrus/orange over the top of a light aroma of biscuit malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of bready, caramel, and biscuit malts with a light amount of honey-like sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit and citrus/orange hops with just a hint of herbal hops. Moderate amounts of bitterness which fades fairly quickly.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront with a hint of dryness in the finish.

O: Though not indicated by the ABV, this beer drinks more like a DIPA than an IPA with the higher levels of sweetness and bitterness present. Enjoyable.

Thanks to Bradaplast for sending this one! Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Cigar City pint glass.

A: Dark gold and extremely hazy. Forms a finger's worth of dense white head with great retention over quite a bit of small bubble visible carbonation.

S: Citrus (peeled oranges), tropical fruits, and bready malts. A nice nose, but not as bit of an aroma as I expected for a Citra-forward beer.

T: Citrus rind, grapefruit, some tropical fruit (mostly mango), and chewy bready malts with a touch of caramel character. There's a good punch of bitterness, and some leftover resin sap on grapefruit rind in the hang. Not quite the big fruity hop profile I was hoping for. Subjectively, this might taste a bit old; unfortunately, I see no dating on the bottle.

M: Medium to slightly heavy body, good carbonation sensation, and an average alcohol presence.

O: Not my favorite, but drinkable. I'm curious as to how old this bottle is - I received it very recently in a trade (and I believe he thought it was fresh)…I would certainly be willing to give another go-round with a (known) very fresh bottle. As it is though, edges towards more mediocre than I'd hoped.

Very smiler to Zombie Dust. If you can't find ZD, and even in Indiana it is next to impossible, you should definitely pick this up.

Pours a nice golden hue, about a finger of head, and leaves a nice lacing on glass.

Aroma is very nice. Citrus and just a bit of piney bitterness.

Hoppy taste right off the bat with some wonderful citrus notes. Smooth and very drinkable. A wonderful, thick mouth feel.

Overall, this is an excellent IPA, and a wonderful substitute for ZD.

Pours pretty enough and has no date on the btotle. SO when I was decideing to review this beer or no, I decide yes because the brewer could have put the date on and I would not have bought it had I thought it was old or past it's drinking window. For a nose there is some caramel, a bit of cracker and biscuity malt, no fruit at all. I can reach in my imagination because of what is written on the label for some orange or some stone fruits but no. Cool herbal. Taste is just ok and nothing more. If I stretch my mind out I could say a bti of tartness and fruit juiciness. It's malt forward. caramel biscuit and dry cracker. No fruit a bit of herbal and some slickness int eh mouthfeel. This had a medium mouthfeel. I would not buy this again especically not without a date on it.

Poured into a 16 oz Flying Dog tulip. Pours a dark yellow, with a two inch white head, that leaves plenty of lace.

Smell pine, lemon, grapefruit, apricot, and papaya.

Taste follows well, with grapefruit, apricot, and papaya being most dominant, but not to overpowering.

Body is on the lighter side, plenty of life, a little dry, and goes down very easy.

Overall this is very nice IPA that I would purchase often if distributed in NH.
