A - A light, slightly hazy orange.

S - I was a little disappointed here. The smell isn't overwhelming, actually a bit underwhelming and reminds me of white wine with some subtle citrus and spice notes.

T - There is the citra hop. There is a nice balance of bitterness with the grapefeuit and citrus flavors. The hops aren't incredibly strong or as strong as I'd prefer for an IPA, but smooth and balanced regardless.

M - Very light and drinkable.

O - A decent beer, but overall I am disappointed. This drinks more like a pale ale and the nose was not nearly what it could be.

Pours a clear copper with a frothy, lingering cream head.

A huge punch of grapefruit, mango, tangerine, and toasted malt form the initial aroma. Resin and pine add complexity. Tropical and citrus fruit dominate.

Flavor is more malt focused, with lightly sweet caramel malt contrasted by underpinnings of citrus fruit, becoming resiny and bitter at the bready, toasted finish. Grapefruit and tangerine dominate the fruit character, with complex notes of tropical fruit adding intrigue.

Body is moderate to a touch full and creamy, with moderate carbonation and a fair amount of hop astringency.

Great flavoring and aroma hop character, though I wish the fruit were dominant, rather than resin. It's too bitter for my liking, and the astringency detracts a bit.

Poured from a bottle (no freshness info) into a Goose Island tulip. The pour is a nice hazy honey color with about a finger of fluffy white head. It's thin and dissipates quickly, but does leave some nice lacing. The nose has that unmistakable aroma of citra hops: sweet oranges, grapefruit, lemon, and ripe peaches.

The beer has a body just on the light side of medium and has a nice, pleasant hop character that's not overly aggressive. You get some toast and marmalade flavors up front and then a nice wave of lemon and orange rind, but you can still taste that malt sweetness underneath. The finish is quite dry and leaves a lingering orange and lemon rind flavor behind. Very appetizing beer.

I am disappointed in this beer. Not that there's anything wrong with it, I'm disappointed I only bought a single and not a 6-pack (see what I did there?). I might have to rectify that tomorrow when I visit the beer store again. This is a nice IPA with some really good, fruity bitterness. That's the kind I like. It kind of reminds me of Schlafly's Tasmanian IPA, only with a bit more sweetness underneath and a touch more body.
