A: Pours a clear golden yellow with a finger of white head that fades into a thin ring with a little lacing.

S: Lot of grassy hops with some pine and grapefruit aromas. It's a very dry and earthy smelling beer.

T: Similar to the aroma, there are a lot of dry and earthy hop flavors. Pine, grasses, citrus rind, and some spicy herbs. The finish is moderately bitter.

M: Medium body and carbonation, this beer is light and a little sudsy feeling, but avoids being watery or oily.

O: A decent IPA overall with unique hop profile and is dry and drinkable.

Pours a bright light peachy color with extreme clarity and a shimmering head of white.

Ah... a showcase of the finest Citra! Maybe a little mild in the poignancy, but the aromas are right. Mango, orange, lemon/lime, and pink grapefruit. Malts are pale, lightly sweet, and mercy mild. Fruity nose, all thanks to the single hop. Great stuff, so far.

Citra Dog pulses with both tropical/citrus fruit notes and tangy leafiness. A rounder fleshy flavor conjures up notes of tart peach and balsa wood. Mild bitterness, which cuts down on the idea of hoppiness, but this beer has a wallop of hop flavors. Candy-like in taste, but not sweet. Not dry, either. Malts keep things supple while the hops supply the acidic tang. Tart berry notes, not forgotten. Great combination of flavors going on.

Remarkably light, despite featuring more languidity than carbonation. A purist might consider this almost syrupy, but the body doesn't stretch that far. In my opinion, a tad above watery. Nothing exceptional in feel, but the rest of the beer's qualities are standout.

A wonderful single-hop IPA with all of the nuances of good Citra hopping.

We pour a brew of dark golden coin coloring. It holds a two finger head of soapy, khaki colored bubbles, showing excellent retention. Thick sheets of cratered lacing are left around the glasses as it recedes as a slower pace. No haze or sediment cuts clarity, and carbonation appears to be light and slow. The aroma gives surprisingly vigorous pale, chalky, rye, and lightly wheaty grain base, with piney, citric, and herbal hop varietals, burnt rubbers, foamy plastics, light clove spice sweetness, dandelion and sunflower leafiness, faint alcohols, green bark resins, and light adjuncty grain. Our first impression is that there is nice hoppiness throughout, but the grain becomes quite gritty by the end, taking a bit away from the overall picture. As we sip, the taste opens with rye, amber, and pale maltiness, metallic tins, chalky yeast, brightly citric hops, cornbread stuffing, acorn nuttiness, walnut shell, floral leafiness, and tannic lemon teas. The middle comes to a peak with dandelion flower blossom bitterness, dirty unfiltered wheaty airs, alcohols, gravel, mineral, chalked yeastiness, and cedar. The end comes with bright boozy wash, steely rye and straw bite, bittered pistachio nuttiness, honeycomb sweetness, sweaty saltiness, toffee sugars, distant caramel malt toast, and citric, resiny, and floral hops. The aftertaste breathes of booziness, apricot and peach fruitiness, oily hop resins, green grassiness, wheat and pale malts, rock salt, light pilsner malt bitterness, newspaper inkiness, herbal and citric hoppiness, and bittered pine bark. The body is light to medium, and the carbonation is light. Each sip confers decent slurp, smack, cream, and froth, with nicer finishing pop. The mouth is left wet, satiated, and softly coated, with eventual drip into light toasty dryness and warmth. The abv is appropriate, and the beer drinks easily.

Overall, what we enjoyed most about this beer was its flavoring, and its aroma. These remained pretty equal and comparable throughout, with freshness of hops, and surprising grit, graininess, and depth to the malt bill. The latter, at times, overshadowed the supposed citric hop showcase, giving somewhat of an unbalanced end and after to the tasting. The feel was also rather lackluster, offering little in the way of creaminess or redeeming refreshment. That said, this guy shows pleasant drinkability and goes down easily without much harsh complaining. This may not be the citra bomb you have been waiting for, but it won’t put your palate to sleep.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Clear golden yellow. Small head. Almost nothing after a bit.

Smell - Not what I expected. A lot of grapefruit to the hop aroma. Doughy malts. Kinda musty.

Taste - Grapefruit hop again. Sweet malts, not too sweet. A little crackery. Bitter and grassy in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation. Bitter in the finish.

Overall - I expected something more orangey and tropical. It's ok, but nothing really impressive.

Serving Type - Bottle

Appearance - Golden tan, mellow yellow with a small 1/4 head, some decent lacing.

Smell - Straight Citra hops, some malts, added sugars, pine and lemon.

Taste - Much like the smell, straight forward shot of citra hops mixed in with some sugars and malts near the finish. Some lemon, pineapple, mango and oranges make up the flavor. Caramel malts round this drink out at the finish.

Mouthfeel - Sweet fruity hops bitter the tongue. Palate gets more hops, some sugars and caramel malts. The aftertaste is bitter and piney.

Overall - A nice beer, nothing super balanced or even multiple flavored, just straight up Citra hops, some sugars and malts mixed into a nice 6.5% easy to enjoy beer. Worth a try for sure.

A- poured into a 16oz tulip beautiful crystal clear copper color. Big soapy head that hangs around for a while. Drink after drink rings of lacing hang in the glass.

S- indicative of any all Citra beer, very dank like a damp basement or jungle, citrus. Grapefruit, mango. Pretty much what I love about citra hops!

T- for 95 Ibu's it doesn't have the lingering bitterness that I would expect. No astringency, citrus hop notes, fairly well balanced by a slightly sweet malt backbone. Think I may have enjoyed this beer had it been a touch drier.

O- solid representation of a single hop American IPA. I enjoy Citra hops but I haven't bought into the hype. I would recommend this beer for someone looking for a citra gateway beer.

Poured from 12oz bottle into standard pint glass.

Looks nice golden yellow body, slight haze, small frothy white head which retained throughout.

Smell was all about sweet fruity hops. Very inviting.

Taste was what you would expect from the smell, mostly grapefruity hops, a fresh and sparkling beverage indeed.

Mouhtful was slightly off putting in that the grapefruit taste never left the mouth. I had to take a 15 minute break to take care of "stuff", and the grapefruit did not diminsh one bit. Now, I like grapefruit, but can imaging it would take some serious palate cleansing before moving on to something different. Mouth was a bit dry as well.

Having said that, overall a very tasty beer for the summer months. Thank you Thirsty Dog.

$2.75 bottle from Abe's.

Got to love a beer with Krypto on the label.

Golden orange body that glows on the outside, chill haze at the center. Three fingers of micro-bubbly pure white foam. No initial lacing.

Huge inviting aroma of grapefruit, orange, mango, and assorted other citrus.

Small malt footprints. An orchard of juicy fruit. Big bitter bite that lingers on and on. I might still taste this in the morning. And like it.

Light-medium mouthfeel with tickles he tongue.

Really like this. Will look for this again.
