I admit I am not a Thirsty Dog fan. Their cheap beer labels, generic beer names, and overall lack of quality beer has turned me off in the past. Now that I have revisited Siberian Night, I might have to eat my own words. Here is my review:
A: Pours a pitch black color. Dark as night. Head is rather minimal and lacing is nothing noteworthy. Looks nice and thick.
S/T: This beer smells like dessert. Almost like a chocolate cake. Lots of caramel, chocolate and coffee. Taste is excellent. This is extremely complex and balanced. The label says there is a lot of caramel malts, and I believe them. The caramel and chocolate flavors in this beer mix so well together, it is literally like drinking a dessert. Lots of coffee and roast as well. The flavor is just so full and complex, I have to sit and enjoy the long and lasting aftertaste. Is it the best Imperial Stout out there? Probably not. But I think it is easily in my top 5.
M/D: Full-bodied. No question about it. So thick and creamy. This is a joy to sip on. Such a delicious stout.
I have had this beer in the past, but I never appreciated it as much as I do now. Its so full of flavor and complexity, I couldn't imagine a better dessert beer than this. Well worth the money. Excellent Imperial Stout.

Bottle purchased at World Market in Charlotte, NC for $2. No freshness or bottling date on label.
A - Pours very dark, almost black. A fluffy tan head sits for a minute or two before dissipating. Great retention and good lacing. Probably the most carbonated RIS I've ever seen.
S - Bittersweet chocolate, touch of coffee. A hint molasses and black licorice is coming through. A noticeable aroma of alcohol also lingers.
T - Nice blend of all the mentioned aromas. They all blend together in this one beautifully. Dark chocolate maltiness at first, followed by coffee beans and licorice as well. Bittersweet chocolate then fades to a roasted finish. Very nice and well balanced brew.
M - Medium bodied and quite carbonated. I would like it more if it were thicker and the carbonation were toned down a bit. Warming is noticeable in my throat and gut.
O - Tasty, enjoyable beer. I would probably enjoy it more on a chilly winter day, as opposed to an 82º summer afternoon. Not my favorite RIS, but one I'll definitely have again.
