Obtained in a trade and never heard of this on before. Thought it would be a good beer to review.
A: Poured like oil from your car after 10,000 miles of tough driving. The deep black sludge was topped by a frothy brown head that faded away quickly.
S: Sweet dark chocolate notes with hints of coffee hit me first. Alcohol was certainly detected.
T: Immediately thought of smooth hot cocoa, with a splash of brandy. Nice chocolate flavors. A malty body pokes through the deep and complex taste profile.
M: Very smooth, but rich body over my palate. Coats your mouth perfectly, not lingering too long, but just long enough to bring you to your next sip.
D: A nice treat, but also not as overwhelming as some other fine Stouts. A very palatable beer that I would love to enjoy again.

Bottle purchased at World Market in Charlotte, NC for $2. No freshness or bottling date on label.
A - Pours very dark, almost black. A fluffy tan head sits for a minute or two before dissipating. Great retention and good lacing. Probably the most carbonated RIS I've ever seen.
S - Bittersweet chocolate, touch of coffee. A hint molasses and black licorice is coming through. A noticeable aroma of alcohol also lingers.
T - Nice blend of all the mentioned aromas. They all blend together in this one beautifully. Dark chocolate maltiness at first, followed by coffee beans and licorice as well. Bittersweet chocolate then fades to a roasted finish. Very nice and well balanced brew.
M - Medium bodied and quite carbonated. I would like it more if it were thicker and the carbonation were toned down a bit. Warming is noticeable in my throat and gut.
O - Tasty, enjoyable beer. I would probably enjoy it more on a chilly winter day, as opposed to an 82º summer afternoon. Not my favorite RIS, but one I'll definitely have again.
