Consumed January 24th, 2014 from a bottle obtained in Cleveland, Ohio in May, 2013. Poured into a hybrid tulip/goblet.
Beer is a clear dark garnet when held to light. Almost no head from a standard pour: just a little ring of light tan foam that clings to the sides.
Aroma - mild bourbon and sweet, melanoidin maltiness.
Flavor is similar to the aroma: sweet juicy malts up front segue into warming bourbon. Vanilla fills in the cracks. Delicious. Bourbon barrel aging a wee heavy has to be one of the best ideas ever.
Mouthfeel is warming almost to the point of hot. Slightly thick and slightly chewy but the lightness of the beer works very well with what could have been an oppressively heavy flavor. Nicely done.
Best wee heavy I think I've ever had.
