another sample from the 'world beer traveler' pack I got for Christmas.

Certainly looks like a macro so hence we give it a 3...decent haead, some lacing, amber color, etc.

Has what I now term "typical macro aroma' hint of graininess, some slight cooked veggies, but no corn sweetness or harshness.

Taste would also fall into that average class. Nothing here that is a surprise, good or bad. Grainy malt, some lingering hop on the tongue. Mouthfeel was a plus over some macros and beers that I've tried south of the USA. Maybe not as watery or bland as most.

A decent beer, considering it's 'classmates'. I'd certainly try one over Brahma if in SA, but I woun't be running to my preferred beer store begging him to stock this one either

A brilliantly shining medium gold, this beer produces a purely white head that maintains what I would consider the exact median in height, retention and lacing, a mixture of spotting and patches splattered here and there.
Grainy, yes, but this beer's nose produces a malts base that comes off as strong compared to many like it, bready and less dry than most but with an accompanying sweetness that isn't too cloying (or too much like corn syrup, for that matter).
It's actually slightly less grainy on the tongue, though somewhat, with malts holding the base as a light must, sulfuric note and mineral element come through into the middle and finish it out with a kiss of grassy leaf.
Crisp, yes, moderately clean and even with some smoothness to it, this beer is just unoffensive all the way around. If you have your choice of pale/adjunct lagers, this will be better than many of your other (albeit limited) options.

While Quilmes doesn't have the best appearance or smell, it does the job on taste and on my buzz. I usually have these at the local Argentinian restaurant here in Miami. This goes great with the churrasco steak and the other dishes they serve. I have found it best to be enjoyed when the bottle is nice and cold. I usually take a sip from the bottle before pouring it into a chilled glass.

The appearance isn't anything out of this world, neither is the smell, but the taste is amazing. Very smooth and no nasty after taste. Great for on the beach or at home, give it a shot.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a clear straw color. The head is actually fairly respectable, at two fingers high with a white color. Retention, on the other hand, is poor. There are small amounts of lacing left behind.

S: There's something unpleasantly vegetal about the nose. Otherwise, it ticks the typical macro lager boxes well enough: some cereal grain, a touch of diacetyl, and even a malty hint. I just can't shake the cooked vegetables at all.

T: It tastes like...well, an AAL really. There's a little corn sweetness to open it up, while the finish is actually somewhat bitter (all relative, of course...) I'd enjoy the bitterness a lot more if it weren't so damn vegetal tasting. All in all, the stereotypical crappy macro lager.

M: Remember that bitterness I talked about earlier? It narrowly prevents this from being a sickly sweet mess - instead it's only kind of sickly sweet. It's still drinkable, though: this would be solid in hot weather...but uh oh, Argentina isn't known for its blistering heat. Hey, at least it's not overcarbonated!

O: Welp, I just ticked Argentina. Granted, the tick was just another lame macro lager, but who cares?! I ticked a country I never thought I would be able to relatively soon. I'd never want to drink this again, though - even among similar AAL's it blows chunks.

A: Crystal clear with thin white head. No lacing and zero head retention.
S: Not much nose. Cereal & light fruit aromas that are quite faint.
T: Bready sweet fruity flavors. Very watery and lacking much taste.
M: Light bodied, watery and refreshing.
O: Watery and cold, at best.
