A - Pours a dark black with a bit of brown highlighting on the edges. Little to no head, poor retention.

S - Smells heavily of chocolate. A bit of spicy note also detectable. I don't get vanilla in the nose.

T - Heavy cocoa flavor, with a bit of a coffee too. Other roasty flavors also come to mind. Hint of vanilla. Some definite spicy heat detectable. Quite interesting, but not over the top.

M - Some good body backing up this beer, beer is creamy and smooth. Spiciness lingers in the throat.

D - The spiciness impacts the drinkability.

Pours a decent head, but there really isn't any retention, shows a little leg.

Huge chocolate and vanilla aroma!

Wholly mole! That sweetness in the aroma is overcome by the heat of the cayenne. Really interesting balance. A touch hot for me, but a hell of a beer.

Moderate body is smooth, with a light acidity (more from the pepper than the roast).

Thanks Yardsale!

Single bottle purchased at Sherbrooke Liquor in Edmonton.
Poured a black liquid with a large brown foamy head, good retention and some uneven lacing.
looks like a stout should.
Aroma of roasted malt and light chocolate.
Taste starts with some dry roasted malt, chocolate or cocoa. Pepper heat then come through, leaving a nice burn on the sides of your throat.
Cayenne is pretty well balanced with the rest of the flavors.
Body is medium average with good carbonation and a creamy smooth texture.
No real hint of the pepper in the smell, but it sneaks up on you in the aftertaste.

Bought online from LiquorDirect.ca. Poured into a Stone double bastard glass because why not.
Label looks cartoonish, epic and very original. Captured my attention instantly. Looks like a light porter. A small tan head, black, filtered body with red gleams. Not very stout-ish. The smell... absolutely amazing. Like my mums homemade texas brownies with a tinge of cayenne pepper. Taste is the same. Nice, subtle heat. Very well balanced, tasty stout.

This is a great beer. I think it is similar to the much celebrated Prairie Bomb. I do t have opportunity to do a side by side comparison which is the in,y fair way to do it - but from my memory I am enjoying this beer more. A truly great beer!

Poured from a 341ml bottle into a stemmed snifter.

Pours a deep, rich black color with 1 full finger of thick, creamy mocha colored head with good retention leaving some ephemeral lacing as it settles to a thick color. The nose is really interesting, lots of chocolate, toasted malt, marshmallows and a subtle chili spice that really adds a nice counterpoint to the sweet notes. On the palate, the oasted malts, chococolate and marshmallow come out first, but aa subtle hop bitterness and hot chili peper heat take over. The beer finishes dry and the spice builds with time. The body is a touch thin for me, but it is still smooth and creamy with just the right amount of carbonation. Overall, a really nice beer though the chilis come off a bit strong.

Another big thank you to wordemupg for this wanted, interesting sounding beer with a fantastic label!

Appearance. Pours dark brown with a thin khaki head.

Smell. Wow, nice dark chocolate and a ton of it, some nice peppery spice and a little dark malt. Smells like desert!

Taste. Again, just a ton of dark chocolate, a little vanilla and dark malt too but the chocolate is the overwhelming taste. The peppery spice kicks in after the second sip ...a little heat that build throughout the bottle too. Nice. 7.5%??? Not in the taste...

Mouthfeel. Medium body, medium-low carbonation. Feels a bit thin.

Overall. Fantastic tasting and smelling beer. If it were a little more rich in appearance and feel, it would be amazing. Despite my (minor) complaints it's a really fun beer.

Appearance - Pours a dark chocolate brown with a thin line of light tan head.

Smell - Cocoa, cayenne pepper, vanilla, dark chocolate.

Taste - Chocolate, vanilla, and cayenne pepper at the very end. The cayenne creates a nice heat.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light-to-moderate carbonation. A tingling sensation warms the back of the throat from the cayenne pepper.

Overall - A nice variation of stout by Paddock Wood and Sherbrooke Liquor. The flavours were well executed and achieved the "hot chocolate stout" title. Appearance in regards to head retention could be improved. Despite that, a nice rare find in Calgary.
